Job Summary

We are seeking a full-time 37.5-hour Medical Assistant to join our Express Care team!

Express Care formally known as Urgent Care offers timely treatment for non-emergency conditions. We care for adults and children ages 3 and up addressing a wide range of issues such as respiratory illnesses infections minor injuries rashes and stomach problems. Because patients often visit when theyre feeling unwell our team prioritizes compassion and emotional support alongside quality medical care.

The schedule consists of working 3 12.5-hour shifts per week including every other weekend (both Saturday and Sunday). Since Express Care is a 7-day-per-week operation that delivers care during the day evening weekends and holidays the schedule for this role will require 2 on-call shifts per 4-week scheduling period weekend holiday coverage and the flexibility to work overtime as needed.

The primary location for this role is 137 Stuart Street in Boston.

We do our best to keep all employees at their assigned centers; however for on-call shifts employees must be able to commute to any of our locations including Brookline Newton Lynn Natick Westwood and Woburn. You may also be asked to report to any of these centers during orientation (for training/precepting purposes) or during times of staffing shortages or other extenuating circumstances (for cross-coverage purposes).

Summary
The role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs documenting patient information scheduling appointments and managing patient flow. This role involves direct interaction with patients to ensure their comfort and address concerns as well as collaboration with physicians nurse practitioners and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care.

Essential Functions:
-Assists junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities and helps facilitate their learning by participating in onboarding training.

-Show patients to examination rooms prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers and interview patients to obtain medical information measure their vital signs weight and height and record information in the patients medical record.

-Explain treatment procedures medications diets and physician instructions to patients ordering and organizing educational materials to reinforce patient education.

-Perform general office duties such as answering phones taking dictation and completing insurance forms while acting as a liaison with other departments and advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach.

-Collect blood tissue or other laboratory specimens log them and prepare them for testing; perform phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated.

-Maintains inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates.

-Provides immunizations (as applicable) which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider.

-Responsible for improving appropriate departmental quality initiatives such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene.
