As our Medical Assistant Apprentice you will help our patients receive safe compassionate and efficient care so they can experience an exceptional healthcare journey.
Every day you will prepare patients for examination measure vital signs provide administrative assistance and work closely with physicians and nurses. You will be expected to complete on-the-job apprenticeship training and upon successful completion of the program sit for the CCMA MA-C exam.
Our year-long paid MA Apprenticeship offers hands-on training clinical experience mentoring and classroom/online educationsimilar to a community or technical college but fully funded by Virginia Mason in exchange for an agreement to continue working with us for two years after earning your MA-C (including the first year in the department or location that trained you).
To be successful in this role you must demonstrate excellent communication skills a passion for patient care and the drive to learn and apply new clinical and administrative responsibilities.
Location: University Village. The MA Apprentice programs start date: 9/28/26
Required:
- Proficiency in reading writing and speaking English.
- Proficiency in the use of computer programs and equipment utilized in a clinic setting (ie electronic medical record web-based training programs etc).
- Current HealthCare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association within 30 days of hire.
- 6 months VMFH work experience and recommendation of their leader.
External candidates must have one of the following:
- 6 months healthcare experience OR completion of a healthcare program approved by the WA Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission such as a CNA program OR Running Start with 4 healthcare related classes
