Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (Med Surg RN) to provide high-quality patient care in a rural healthcare setting.
The RN will deliver direct and indirect nursing care to patients across a wide range of ages and medical conditions from postpartum neonates to geriatric patients.
This position offers exposure to medical surgical high-acuity rehabilitative skilled nursing and pediatric care. There may also be opportunities to expand clinical skills in postpartum care infusion therapy wound care and cross-training in the Emergency Department (ED) and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect nursing care to medical-surgical patients across various age groups and acuity levels.
- Assess patient conditions monitor vital signs and identify changes in clinical status.
- Develop implement and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with established protocols.
- Monitor patient responses to medications and treatments and address adverse reactions promptly.
- Apply critical thinking and clinical judgment in rapidly changing patient care situations.
- Maintain infection prevention and control practices and ensure patient safety.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Provide compassionate care to medical surgical pediatric postpartum rehabilitative and geriatric patients as appropriate to qualifications and competency.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and protect patient confidentiality.
- Communicate effectively with patients families and healthcare team members.
- Participate in cross-training and expanded clinical responsibilities as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current unencumbered Utah or compact-state RN license.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- One to two years of medical-surgical nursing experience is preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications or ability to obtain them within one year of hire.
- Willingness to obtain Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within one year of hire.
- Knowledge of infection control principles patient safety techniques and prevention of adverse reactions to medications and treatments.

Schedule and Work Environment
- Shift: Nights 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM.
- Rotation: Seven consecutive days on followed by seven consecutive days off.
- Employment Type: Temporary assignment.
- Work Setting: Medical-surgical nursing in a rural hospital environment.
