Job Summary
You will serve as a MECHANICAL SYSTEMS INSPECTOR (SHIPS) LEADER in the Non-Nuclear Inspection Division Inspection Branch 133.2 of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
- You will explain changes to technical procedures and determine proper material safety precautions.
- You will advise other employees on existing instructions to ensure deadlines are met.
- You will monitor and ensure safety requirements are followed and tools and equipment are used properly.
- You will provide oral and written instruction outlining quality and quantity of work and inspection requirements and general work/inspection methods and procedures.
- You will also perform the duties of a Mechanical Inspector; setting the pace including demonstrating proper methods.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final (e.g. confidential/secret/top secret etc.) security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience not necessarily the length of time.

- Receive instructions and establish work priorities.
- Determine proper material safety precautions and demonstrate proper work and inspection methods.
- Ensure required technical procedures plans blueprints materials and tools are available and assembled to support assigned work.
- Answer inquiries regarding procedure policy written instructions and directives.
