Job Responsibilities & Requirements
As a Mechanical Engineer you will work to design test improve and support equipment designed by MiTek for the truss manufacturing this position you will work on robust machinery design that helps customers to improve their production output. Mechanical Engineers at MiTek design document and troubleshoot all components such as overall machine design structural frames mechanical power transmission and manufacturability of machinery. You will design the full mechanical assembly of the automated machine and be involved in every stage of the system from concept to production. Mechanical Engineers work closely with Electrical and Manufacturing Engineers as well as Production Software Customer Service and other administrative departments to ensure a successful product.
This position will work a hybrid schedule based out of our Earth City MO location.
Responsibilities:
Design develop evaluate and support automated industrial machinery products for the Component Manufacturing (CM) and off-site construction industry
Generate mechanical project execution artifacts of small to large scale deployments (i.e. cost estimates schedules resource needs risks forecasts status etc.)
Design integrate and test mechanical parts and assemblies using industry best practices
Design integrate and test industrial pneumatic and hydraulic systems
Design integrate and test industrial electro-mechanical & robotic systems
Develop and maintain project documentation (i.e. system requirements engineering drawings equipment manuals test plans project notes etc.)
Ensure compliance with MiTek engineering procedures guidelines industry standards and governmental regulations applicable to industrial machinery
Perform engineering analysis and calculations where applicable (including FEA analysis)
Enter new/update existing data in MRP/ERP system
Support Manufacturing Marketing & Sales Purchasing Installation and Customer Service organizations throughout a products lifecycle
Review/stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies
Some travel required (up to 20% during critical on-site activities)
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university required
3 years of mechanical engineering design experience focused on machinery and automated systems
Equivalent combination of experience and education which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute on a year for year basis
Strong understanding of strength of materials statics and dynamics
Proficiency with SolidWorks PDM and AutoCAD Mechanical
Proficiency in machined formed and welded designs and drawings using GD&T
Proficiency in pneumatic hydraulic and electro-mechanical systems
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word Excel Access PowerPoint etc.)
Ability to rapidly diagnose and troubleshoot automated machinery
Ability to work individually and as part of a team
Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure & deadlines
Strong planning organizational and decision-making skills
Strong communication skills to interact frequently with stakeholders
