POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the development and validation of an atomic clock product pilot line. This individual will join theTiming and FrequencyMechanicalEngineeringteam and work acrossdesign prototyping testing and pre-productiontocreate andmaintainnew and existingproducts. A strong candidate will have hands-on experience withSolidWorks CAD mechanical design analysisprototype fabricationBOMmanagement anddrawing creation.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

- Analyze and interpret complexdesign requirements including reference to various industry standards.
- Applycreativity and resourcefulness todeploy both established best practices anddevelop non-traditional methods to satisfy novel project demands.
- DevelopCADmodels drawings and documentation packages for all designs
- Perform engineering analysis to guide design decisions and communicate that analysis to project leaders both verbally and through documentation.
- Contribute totechnical reviews and project status meetings as the technical designcontributor and/or lead.
- Assemble prototype units and develop assembly procedures for higher volume production.
- Develop and executetest plans to evaluate mechanical sub-system performance.
- Coordinate with manufacturing to incorporate DFM/DFA into design and supporting documentation

Requirements
- General curiosity about system design physics orquantum mechanics
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineeringfrom an ABET accredited institution
- 4yearsof experience in a professional product-focused engineering role
- Well-rounded background in core mechanical engineering principles and concepts
- High levelof skillusingSolidworks3D CAD tools formechanicaldesign
- Experience with application of GD&T to engineering drawings
- Demonstrated experience applying Design for Manufacturability and Assembly principles
- Ability to visually see and focus onfine detailsof small components
- Good verbal and written technical communication skills
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience building proof-of-concept prototypes from the ground up using 3D printing off-the-shelf parts and rapid prototype vendors
- Experience in alean mid-volumemanufacturing environment including debugging design issues thatarisein early pre-production
- A portfolio of creative product design solutionsthatoptimizesize cost functionality or aesthetics
- Experience with thermal or vibration analysis simulation and experimentation
- Understanding ofa variety of manufacturing processes usedonmetal plastics and glass
- Understanding of ASTM E595 how to choose materials for space
- Familiarity withcubesator space flight hardware design techniques
- Familiarity with fiber-optic or free-spaceopticalsystemsor optical atomic clocks
- Experience using SolidWorks PDM and Arena PLM or similar document control systems
- Experience using SolidWorks ANSYS or COMSOL design analysis toolsWORKING CONDITIONSand PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- This position may require access to information protected under U.S. export control laws and regulations including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Benefits
The targeted salary range for this role is 112000to 174000 USD on an annualized basis plus eligibility toparticipatein our annual incentive plan.
