This position encompasses all areas of mechanical design engineering - including structural design component design mechanisms and tooling. This position works with the Program Manager and Engineering departments to complete designs. Develop designs from direction supplied by Novi program management and external Lear engineers

(The following duties are typical for this classification. However any one position may not include all the duties listed nor do the examples cover all the duties which may be performed.)

• Work closely with Project Managers Controls Engineers the manufacturing team and customers to develop systems and develop systems and complete projects.
• Provides machine mechanism and tooling design along with drawing creation while under minimal technical supervision.
• Prepares drawing packages for manufacture and assembly ensuring they are complete and accurate meeting all customer drawing requirements as well as proper drafting standards
• Collaborates with shop members prior to and during the build
• Deliberates with Controls engineers to design for integration and select pneumatic components
• Develop mechanical designs to solve production plant issues
• Uses SolidWorks to develop equipment machine mechanism or tooling designs that meet customer specifications and the company quote
• Knowledgeable in standards processes and best practices and able to use them to complete duties.
• Develop predictive maintenance indicators to increase reliability and reduce downtime
• Supports legacy mechanical designs
• Shares design methodologies productivity tools standards processes and legacy information for increased knowledge and experience within the company
• Mentors less experienced design staff and assists in the development of concepts and design methodologies for projects

• Mechanical Engineering Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience.

• Three years experience in a design role at an automation/machine build shop.
