Job Summary


Purpose:The goal of the Ahlstrom Stevens Point Mills Co-op program is to cultivate the development of potential future engineering and leadership resources for our organization while providing high-quality process support to the mills operations group(s). Co-op assignments are structured to provide candidates with opportunities to grow and develop in their chosen discipline as well as to educate them on various career paths within the organization. Although there is no guarantee of future employment our goal is to have our Co-ops fully capable of stepping into a full-time engineering position within our organization by the end of the program.

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer Co-op at our Stevens Point Wisconsin plant for Fall 2027. This position will assist the MaintenanceTeam in the achievement of safety quality production cost and product development objectives of a paper machine process line. Pay Rate:$27.00 per hour

Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
  • Enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering or similar Engineering degree program
  • Living in or willing to relocate to the Stevens Point Wisconsin area from May December 2027
  • Strong technical aptitude and proven problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate product improvement or cost optimization projects
  • Assist with machine shutdowns and start-ups
  • Learn and provide technical support to process engineers and coordinators with Proficy Centerlining Optivision and Aspentech software systems
  • Monitor assess analyze and optimize process quality and conditions
  • Monitor assess and analyze process variability
  • Reduce environmental impact
  • Provide technical support for key departments
  • Provide problem solving and analytical skills
  • Must follow Ahlstroms manufacturing and hygiene processes procedures and policies as applicable to the positions areas of responsibility in order to meet and maintain the safety quality and regulatory compliance requirements for each grade of paper
  • Assist and/or lead safety productivity quality efficiency cost control compliance and housekeeping projects
  • Support operations/maintenance efforts and drive continuous improvement
