Job Title: Mechanical Designer

Job Location: Melville NY (100% onsite)

Salary: $100000-$125000/yr DOE

• Create detailed technical drawings and schematics based on specifications provided by engineering.
• Utilize CAD software (such as AutoCAD Inventor or SolidWorks) to produce accurate and precise drawings.
• Revise drawings based on feedback from engineering and manufacturing. Ensure all changes are incorporated accurately.
• Use best judgement to solve complex design problems.
• Create designs which consider cost simplicity and production feasibility.
• Provide recommendations for material selection.
• Assist in cost and direct labor estimates as required.
• Work closely with engineering and project management to understand requirements and objectives.
• Communicate effectively with team members to ensure clarity and accuracy in the design process.
• Attend project meetings to provide input and updates on design progress.
• Foster a positive work environment by maintaining professional courteous conduct and communication with others including supervisors co-workers clients and vendor.
• Ensure all drawings comply with military commercial and international industry standards company guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct quality checks on drawings produced by junior drafters peer designers and engineering to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Develop and maintain drafting standards and procedures to improve efficiency and consistency.
• Maintain organized records of all drawings and related documents.
• Ensure all files are properly stored and accessible for future reference.
• Stay updated with the latest developments in CAD software and drafting techniques.
• Propose and implement improvements to drafting processes to enhance productivity and accuracy.

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 6 years prior experience or Masters degree and a minimum of 4 years prior experience.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Inventor. Siemens PADS and CAM 350 a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Costpoint ERP systems Microsoft Office proficiency
