Job Summary
The mechanic is responsible for inspecting diagnosing maintaining and repairing fleet vehicles including ambulances to ensure safe reliable and operationally ready equipment. This position supports both the current maintenance needs of MEMS and the continued growth of fleet maintenance through preventative maintenance effective use of technology accurate documentation and continuous improvement.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspect diagnose maintain and repair vehicles in accordance with manufacturer specifications industry standards and MEMS policies.
- Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled services to improve vehicle reliability availability and service life.
- Diagnose mechanical electrical electronic and vehicle-system concerns using appropriate diagnostic equipment software and service information.
- Accurately estimate labor time and identify parts materials and outside services necessary to complete repairs.
- Complete repairs efficiently and verify that vehicles are safe and ready to return to service.
- Identify developing or recurring vehicle issues and communicate recommended repairs or corrective actions.
- Accurately document inspections diagnostic findings repairs labor parts and services performed.
- Maintain a clean safe professional and organized work environment and properly care for vehicles tools and shop equipment.
- Support fleet readiness and prioritize work based on safety operational needs and vehicle availability.
- Participate in rotating on-call coverage and support Fleet Maintenance operations during emergency and disaster-response events.
- Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
TECHNOLOGY & CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
- Maintain knowledge of changing vehicle technology diagnostic systems programming equipment and repair procedures.
- Participate in technical and manufacturer training as appropriate.
- Assist in improving maintenance procedures inspections shop efficiency parts and tooling practices and vehicle reliability.
- Share technical knowledge and assist with training or mentoring other maintenance personnel as needed.
- Support the introduction of new vehicles equipment systems and technologies.
- Assume additional technical responsibilities such as experience capabilities fleet requirements and organizational needs grow.
QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES
- Ford Certification preferred
- ASE Certification preferred
- Strong working knowledge of automotive maintenance diagnostics and repair.
- Valid drivers licenseand acceptable driving record
- Strong troubleshooting communication documentation and teamwork skills
- Ability to use diagnostic equipment vehicle programming systems computers and electronic service information.
- Ability to work independently prioritize assignments and adapt to changing operational needs.
- Must possess appropriate personal tools and meet applicable pre-employment requirements to include criminal background check pre-employment physical and drug screen.
- Commitment to safety quality workmanship accountability and continued professional development.
- Experience servicing and repairing Ford fleet vehicles including familiarity with Ford Warranty processes documentation and repair procedures.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including prolonged standing bending crouching crawling. Regular exposure to noise vibration heat and vehicle fluids.
Normal position hours are fulltime Monday Friday with 8 hour days. Alternating weekend on-call time are required as well as periodic mandatory overtime.
