Job Summary
The City of Corsicana is seeking an experienced Mechanic Assistant to perform skilled mechanical work on a variety of gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. This position is responsible for diagnosing issues completing repairs and maintaining a preventative maintenance program for City vehicles and mechanical equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical problems on City vehicles and equipment
- Perform skilled repairs on engines transmissions brakes steering components and other systems
- Maintain preventative maintenance schedules
- Order and acquire parts and materials for repairs
- Operate trucks up to 2½-ton capacity within yard or shop area
- Perform cleaning and detailing of equipment using power washers and other tools
- Document maintenance and repair activities accurately
- Follow all safety regulations and procedures
- Ability to bend kneel crawl twist and raise arms for prolonged periods
- Regularly required to sit stand walk and work in confined spaces
- Must be able to lift carry and push/pull up to 100 lbs
- Frequent use of hand tools air tools power tools and small parts
- Ability to climb on and under vehicles for inspection and service
- Exposure to inclement weather dust grease fumes and loud noise
- Occasional evening weekend and holiday work may be required
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Strong mechanical knowledge of engines transmissions and vehicle systems
- Experience with diagnostic tools and mechanical servicing techniques preferred
- Knowledge of current vehicle models and servicing methods
- Must have and maintain a valid Texas Drivers License and clean driving record
