Job Summary
The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is recruiting a Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program Manager. While this position has been located in Helena any location within the State of Montana will be considered. This position administers the MCSAP (Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program) and interprets rules and regulations for other state agencies. This includes day-to-day operations of the MCSAP program for the State of Montana and coordinating all compliance and law enforcement agency efforts. This position manages directs and coordinates the operation of the MCSAP Program and Section through personnel management monitoring and assuring the MDT/MCS and sections remain compliant with grant program and federal regulations state laws and department and division policies. Responsible for preparing coordinating and implementing Montanas Commercial Vehicle Safety Plan (CVSP). Bachelors Degree in Public Administration Business Law Enforcement or a related field.
4 years of work-related experience and 2 years of supervision or team lead experience.
Combinations of additional related work experience and education may be considered. Such as 8 years of related experience and 2 years of supervisory or team lead experience.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of federal and state statutes and rules regarding the operation of commercially-operated vehicles including hazardous materials vehicle equipment driver qualification and regulations and carrier regulations.
Understanding of investigative methods fiscal planning and program management.
Effective communication skills training techniques and analytical skills.
