Terms and Conditions: Full-time 10 months 185 day teacher calendar.
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary: Per Faculty Senate collective bargaining agreement
initial placement on the salary schedule between
BA and MA60 depending on the educational level
and Step 1 and 5 depending on experience.

OPRF WHO WE ARE

Oak Park and River Forest High School or OPRF is a comprehensive public high school located in Oak Park IL a suburb eight miles due west of downtown Chicago. We are a one-school district with the majority of our students coming from two sender districts River Forest Public Schools District 90 and Oak Park Elementary School District 97. We offer more than 200 courses a variety of programs for students with special needs 103 clubs and activities and 34 competitive sports. We prepare our students well for post-secondary success with an average ACT composite score of 24 and a 96% graduation rate.

Position Summary:
The employee in this position will be responsible for designing and implementing intervention services for small groups of students who are not meeting grade-level proficiency in OPRF math division strives to nurture a deeper understanding and enhanced appreciation of mathematics by building the critical thinking collaboration and communication skills of all students so that they can be successful in a global society as lifelong learners.

Essential Duties: (Other duties may be assigned.)

1. Plan and instruct students needing intensive small group instruction to meet academic standards in Mathematics.
2. Develop research-based intervention plans for students with the goal of accelerating learning to meet grade level standards..
3. Provide intensive intervention instruction incorporating the Common Core Eight Mathematical Practices.
4. Enrich or modify lessons curriculum materials and resources as needed to meet individual student needs and varying levels of progress.
5. Conduct formal and informal assessments to evaluate student progress. Administer standardized assessments as directed. Interpret student assessment data for application of instructional methods and monitoring of student progress.
6. Review student progress via assessments maintain records of student work and develop intervention strategies to ensure student success and growth.
7. Communicate verbally and in writing with parents and students regarding progress.
8. Meet regularly and work collaboratively with other departmental teachers and support teachers to plan equitable instruction across all classrooms of the same subject.
9. Meet regularly with support teachers teacher assistants and other support staff to discuss individual students modifications or adaptations ongoing learning issues interventions or problems. Work collaboratively to ensure individual students needs are met.
10. Assign work instructions or lessons to substitutes and/or student teachers.
11. Actively participate on various building and District teams or committees.
12. Set clear expectations for class and manage classroom and school environment applying positive behavioral supports and interventions as needed.
13. Collaborate with other staff in planning modifying enhancing and implementing curriculum and district objectives.
14. Establish a safe atmosphere conducive to a positive learning environment. Inform students of safety concerns in all laboratory situations and assure their safety through supervision.
15. Act as a role model by encouraging appropriate behaviors that lead to social emotional and physical development
16. Enforce and support school policies philosophies and objectives with students and parents.
17. Participate in staff development and school improvement activities in order to maintain professional growth. Plan and incorporate best practices or new strategies.
18. Participate in events outside of the regularly scheduled work day such as orientation open houses conferences and/or division meetings.
19. Observe the professional day and maintain positive professional relations with colleagues.
20. Hold high expectations for all students and demonstrate a deep belief that all students can learn and succeed.
21. Communicate openly with students staff parents and other stakeholders regarding students achievement and progress in the classroom.
22. Commit to equity and eliminating systemic obstacles for students of color.
23. Extend the school day for our students through supervision of extracurricular activities in STEM Athletics and/or other activities.

Job Responsibilities: (Others responsibilities may be assigned.)

1. Works within the policies and regulations of the OPRF; Illinois public acts and regulations as described by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE); and applicable Federal laws regulations and guidelines applicable to the education of high school students and staff.
2. Makes professional decisions that demonstrate support of the mission goals and best interests of OPRF as expressed through Board of Education approved documents including the Strategic Plan and Building Improvement Plans.

Qualifications:

1. Valid Illinois Professional Educators License with Math endorsement.
2. Computer Science endorsement preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job may involve supervision of student teachers and/or teaching assistants.

Work Environment:

• The noise level in the work environment is usually low. However on occasion the noise level will be moderate.
• Work is usually conducted indoors.
