Location/Division Specific Information:

As part of the BioServices team the Rockville MD site focuses on the receipts inventory storage withdrawal and shipment of biological specimens samples clinical agents and materials from multiple commercial and government clients.

How Will You Make an Impact:

The Material Handler I supports operations by storing and shipping materials at temperatures ranging from ambient (room temperature) to -196 degrees C with potentially hazardous properties.

A Day in the Life:

  • Labeling packaging and assembly of drug products or collection kits.
  • Facilitate movement of materials including hazardous materials across the site
  • Maintain accurate inventory through receipts adjustments and cycle counts
  • Efficiently and flawlessly handle materials ensuring strict adherence to safety guidelines and procedures
  • Apply effective techniques to accurately receive store and distribute materials
  • Work with speed and accuracy to fulfill customer orders and maintain inventory control
  • Resolve discrepancies or issues with materials collaborating with team members as needed
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize material handling processes

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

  • Required: No previous work experience required
  • Preferred: Experience in assembly distribution warehouse or supply chain or related field
  • Preferred: Experience with GMP & GDP environment

Knowledge Skills Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently and set priorities
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Work as part of a team
  • Able to work with methods to handle process and store specimens using a computerized storage and retrieval system

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Work in a cold environment with exposure to dry ice liquid nitrogen cryogenics hazardous and infectious agents and marked changes in temperature
  • Must use personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to safety protocols
  • Able to lift and carry 50 lbs and push up to 70 lbs
  • Periodically work in walk-in freezers and refrigerators for up to 5 hours per day
