POSITION SUMMARY
The Massage Therapist working as part of the Health and Wellbeing team provides professional massage therapy services that support client wellness and a welcoming YMCA experience. The Massage Therapist assesses client needs within the scope of massage therapy practice develops appropriate massage sessions maintains professional boundaries and client confidentiality and promotes a safe inclusive environment. The incumbent demonstrates the YMCA core values of caring honesty respect and responsibility in all aspects of their work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Consult with clients regarding relevant health history goals areas of discomfort contraindications and preferences and determine whether massage therapy is appropriate within the therapists scope of practice.
- Evaluate soft-tissue condition joint quality and function muscle tension and range of motion as appropriate to massage therapy practice and provide massage techniques consistent with client needs consent training and scope of practice.
- Obtain and respect client consent; maintain appropriate draping privacy professional boundaries and ethical standards throughout each session.
- Recognize conditions or client needs that are outside the Massage Therapists scope of practice and refer the client to an appropriate health care professional when indicated.
- Accurately and timely maintain client records and protect confidential information in accordance with YMCA procedures and applicable requirements.
- Maintain a clean sanitary organized and safe treatment environment including appropriate cleaning of equipment linens and high-touch surfaces between clients.
- Communicate professionally and inclusively with clients members guests and colleagues and contribute to a welcoming environment where people feel respected and supported.
- Attend and remain current on required YMCA training and staff meetings including emergency procedures and other position-specific training.
- Follow YMCA policies and procedures including personnel guidelines facility access procedures membership policies emergency plans and applicable health and safety practices.
- Support the YMCAs mission annual support campaign and organizational initiatives as appropriate to the role.
- Perform other duties as assigned that are consistent with the positions responsibilities and the employees qualifications.

- Uses a computer phone or smart device as needed for scheduling documentation communication and other job responsibilities.
- Requires the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues and to observe client responses relevant to safe service delivery.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current active Colorado Massage Therapist license in good standing and continued compliance with all requirements necessary to practice massage therapy in Colorado.
- Maintain individual professional liability insurance covering acts within the scope of massage therapy practice throughout employment. Coverage must meet or exceed Colorados statutory minimum of $50000 per claim and $300000 aggregate annually. Proof of current coverage must be provided upon hire at renewal and upon request.
- At least one year of professional massage therapy experience preferred.
- Education and training sufficient to meet Colorado massage therapist licensure requirements; additional training in modalities offered by the YMCA is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skill in applicable massage modalities which may include Swedish sports deep tissue trigger point prenatal hot stone and reflexology when appropriately trained and permitted within the therapists scope of practice.
- Strong communication customer service documentation and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain client confidentiality informed consent professional boundaries and ethical conduct.
- Professional dependable and collaborative approach consistent with YMCA values.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification or ability to obtain and maintain certification within the timeframe established by the YMCA.
