Job Summary
Work Schedule: M-F 4 PM - 2:30 AM*This schedule reflects current business demand and is subject to change at any hired you will be required to complete your training courses before coming to the shop day of Orientation would be from 9 am -4:30pmAfter first day you will be able to come in at 6 am to continue your online on the shop floor you will spend the next 3 weeks of training on day shift with the day shift paint determined you will be able to start your normal shiftMaskers ensure the application of painting or other coatings is exact - precisely what our customers require. Maskers review blueprints to accurately identify the prep work needed for processing parts and they apply masking (tape paper plugs) to prevent the application of paint or other processing on surfaces that shouldnt be coated. Maskers verify part cleanliness and damage-free surfaces to ensure product quality and customer position is classified as role is identified as requiring ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) compliance; therefore qualified candidates must meet the definition of a U.S. Person (per EAR Part 772 and ITAR 120.15):An individual who is granted U.S. citizenship orAn individual who is granted U.S. permanent residence (i.e. a Green Card holder) orAn individual who is granted status as a protected personEssential FunctionsTo perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable Accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential and interprets blueprints to determine required work procedures and identify materials requiredUsing cleaning fluids solvents brushes scrapers sandpaper cloth and/or steam cleans surfaces of workpieces in preparation for coatingFollows established work instructions and safety procedures including the proper use of all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and the use storage and disposition of hazardous materialsUses precision measuring tools such as calipers or other gauges to determine areas needed for masking according to blueprints or drawingsUses precision cutting tools such as x-acto style blades/knives to accurately shape masking materials including tiny materials and hard-to-reach areas requiring manual dexterity with sometimes very limited accessApplies masking or other such materials to ensure surfaces are protected during processing proceduresRinses drains and/or wipes coated workpieces to remove excess coating material or to facilitate the setting of finish coats on workpiecesDemasks and cleans parts as required after coatings or processes have been performed paying close attention to ensure masking materials applied were correct and adequate in meeting customer/drawing requirementsPerform other incidental duties as may be requiredRegular attendance on-site at the workplace is requiredRequired Education and Work ExperienceA high school diploma or GED equivalent is requiredExperience in precision masking or similar is preferredOther Required Skills and AbilitiesExperience reading and interpreting blueprints; experience interpreting finish specs is preferredPrecise dexterity and the ability to apply masking in small places and to make precise cuts using an X-acto or similar pointed blade is requiredHand strength and stability to effectively and accurately use precision cutting instruments is requiredPhysical Demands and Work EnvironmentTo perform the essential functions of the role employees must be able to perform the following activities with or without reasonable accommodations:Regularly stand and walk throughout the facilitySit for long periods to perform job dutiesRegularly lift carry (short distances) and push/pull up to 50 pounds using peer assistance and/or other lifting & material-handling equipment for heavy or oversized partsFrequently reaches overhead and reaches out or down to perform dutiesOccasionally climbs steps stairs or laddersOccasionally bend crawl stoop squat or kneelFrequently uses hand or fingers to manually inspect parts apply and remove masking materials and operate precision cutting toolsAccurately distinguish colorsVisual acuity to interpret drawings sketches and readings on gauges and other measuring devices and to ensure precise application of masking materialsWorking ConditionsWork is performed in a manufacturing shop environment where working conditions may vary significantly; the employee will be exposed to:Excessive noise (hearing protection required) - occasionallyModerate noise - regularlyDust smoke mist fumes/vapors (regularly)Extreme temperatures (occasionally)Hazardous equipment including forklifts hand tools sharp blades cranes or other lifting devices and other equipment used in a machine shop environment (continually)If selected for this role you will be required to complete all assigned online training courses prior to beginning work on the shop first day of orientation will run from9:00 a.m. to 4:30 orientation you will complete the remaining online training from6:00 a.m. to 4:30 you transition to the shop floor you will participate in athree-week day-shift training periodunder the guidance of the lead successful completion of training and based on supervisor assessment you will then begin yourregular assigned shift.
