Bring Your Skills to Biotechnology as a Manufacturing Technician!

The Manufacturing Technician I accurately follows written Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to perform a variety of molecular biology techniques which support the manufacture of molecular controls. Manufacturing Technicians are expected to have excellent laboratory dexterity be proficient with micropipettes aseptic techniques molecular biology techniques and in the use of associated laboratory equipment. This individual is well-organized enjoys detailed work works with limited supervision by the Manager of Manufacturing Operations and may be called upon to assist with troubleshooting manufacturing processes and products.

What You Will Get to Do
  • Accurately and reproducibly performs a variety of molecular biology techniques that support the manufacture of molecular controls
  • Follows aseptic techniques and current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP)
  • Works with a variety of chemistries labware and laboratory equipment including performing work in BSLII hoods
  • Precisely delivers small volumes using micropipettes
  • Performs in-process QC on manufacturing components and products (pH spectrometry and electrophoresis). Accurately documents all results
  • Assists other manufacturing personnel in the manufacture of products
  • Assists with troubleshooting of processes and products as needed
  • May participate in modifying / improving existing MMQCI products and processes
  • Performs routine laboratory tasks including inventory ordering and maintaining organization
  • Follows MMQCIs quality systems based on cGMP and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) regulatory requirements. Accurately documents work and keeps detailed records
  • Contributes to laboratory support tasks such as routine cleaning of laboratory and equipment and general housekeeping duties

Required Skills & Experience
  • B.A. B.S. in Biology/Biotech/Life Sciences or an A.S degree with 2 years relevant hands-on manufacturing experience or similar laboratory function
  • Experience working with DNA and RNA molecular biology techniques (PCR spectrometry and gel electrophoresis experience is highly desired)
  • Ability to read comprehend and accurately follow SOPs quickly with attention to detail
  • Requires fine and gross motor skills ability to work with various sizes of labware including the ability to firmly grasp
  • Able to visually inspect product and perform visual inspections of gels
  • Able to work under a BSLII hood for multiple hours in a row
  • Able to follow aseptic and contamination control techniques including working in an environmentally controlled facility that has gowning requirements
  • Able to work with hazardous materials such as acids
  • Highly organized with the ability to perform precise detail-oriented work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and shifting priorities
  • Good communication skills written and oral and excellent computer skill
  • Must be able to stand for several hours and lift approximately 30 lbs
Preferred
  • Experience in an industrial environment following cGMP and/or ISO is preferred

The pay range for this position is $19.23 to $36.06/hour
