Purpose of Role
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the maintenance team to ensure the safe efficient and reliable operation of equipment machinery and facilities. This role coordinates maintenance activities manages personnel and drives continuous improvement in equipment performance and uptime. This person reports to Maintenance Engineering Manager.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Supervise train and lead maintenance technicians and support staff
- Plan prioritize and assign daily maintenance work (preventive predictive and corrective)
- Ensure timely response to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime
- Monitor and improve equipment reliability and overall plant performance
- Enforce safety policies procedures and regulatory compliance
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment and facilities
- Maintain accurate maintenance records work orders and inventory
- Coordinate with production and other departments to align maintenance schedules
- Manage spare parts inventory and control maintenance costs
- Assist in capital projects equipment installations and upgrades
- Identify root causes of failures and implement corrective actions
- Support continuous improvement initiatives (lean manufacturing TPM etc.)
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Professional Skills Qualifications and Competencies
Education and Experience | High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or certification preferred. 5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment. 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred. |
Geographic Location | Richmond VA |
Language Skills | Excellent verbal written and interpersonal skills including the ability to work cross-functionally with other departments. |
Ability to Reason | Strong knowledge of mechanical electrical hydraulic and pneumatic systems Experience with troubleshooting and repair of industrial equipment |
Computer Skills | Knowledge and experience with: Manufacturing software/ERP MS Office applications including Excel and Word. |
Math Skills | Ability to apply basic to intermediate mathematical concepts. Working knowledge of measurements tolerances and conversions (standard and metric systems) |
Certificates/Licenses | Valid drivers license required OSHA 10/30 preferred Maintenance-related certifications (electrical mechanical PLC) a plus |
Other | Ability to react with urgency to achieve objectives and deadlines despite obstacles and time pressures. |
