Job Responsibilities:
Scope of Position
- Prepares routine engineering assignments simple plans designs calculations etc. May carry out routine technical surveys or inspections and prepare reports. Less than three years experience.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associates degree in Engineering Engineering Technology or a related technical discipline or significant related technical experience.
- 25 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferably high-volume automotive Tier 1 or Tier 2.
- Basic understanding of CNC programming and manufacturing automation.
- Knowledge of quality standards and certification processes (QS-9000 IATF 16949 ISO) preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint) and CAD software (AutoCAD) for creating sketches drawings and technical illustrations.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to interface effectively with corporate staff vendors customers and plant employees.
- Experience supporting plant startups new product launches and high-volume manufacturing operations is a plus.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and APQP process is desirable.
- Strong organizational analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a dynamic fast-paced environment and support cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare routine engineering assignments simple plans designs calculations and reports to support manufacturing operations.
- Conduct basic technical surveys inspections and assist in documenting findings.
- Support process documentation including control plans reaction plans PFMEAs and update documents as new models are introduced.
- Assist Supplier Quality and Manufacturing during ongoing production of new products and critical periods.
- Collaborate with management engineering maintenance and production staff regarding manufacturing capabilities production schedules and operational considerations for a three-shift facility.
- Apply basic statistical methods to evaluate machinery and process capability.
- Utilize formal problem-solving techniques (8-Step DOE mistake-proofing) to identify issues and recommend corrective actions through designated channels.
- Support CNC program edits and troubleshoot basic programming issues as required.
- Assist production with quality concerns by identifying root causes developing action plans and driving implementation.
- Participate in plant layout planning machinery placement and material handling strategies.
- Support shop floor personnel training activities and pursue personal training for skill development.
- Assist Manufacturing Engineers in tool trials capability studies and development of standardized supporting documents.
- Help develop and maintain Manufacturing Engineering Standards templates and documentation processes.
- Support APQP activities line balancing workstation content planning and production documentation.
- Assist in creating safety and ergonomics documentation for manufacturing processes.
- Develop reports on scrap Key Manufacturing Indicators (KMIs) and continuous improvement projects; present weekly updates to management.
- Ensure proper control approval release and archiving of engineering documents including CAD drawings and part numbering.
- Support Lean Manufacturing and MAFACT activities process innovation initiatives and cost-saving projects.
- Conduct weekly and monthly Layered Process Audits (LPAs).
- Support Lessons Learned Benchmarking and other continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support monthly operational review reporting MAFACT assessments and IATF audits.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Other tasks as defined by management.
