Job Summary

Machine Specialties Inc. (MSI) is a leading provider of precision-machined components special processing and complex assemblies for the aerospace industry. We are seeking a motivated Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing Engineering team.

This is a full-time exempt position reporting directly to the Engineering Manager. The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex manufacturing challenges collaborating with cross-functional teams and developing innovative processes that support world-class aerospace manufacturing.

Job Description:

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing and optimizing manufacturing processes for precision aerospace components. This role works closely with customers machinists programmers quality personnel and suppliers to ensure manufacturable efficient and cost-effective production plans while maintaining the highest quality standards.

  • Develop manufacturing plans from customer engineering drawings models and technical data packages.
  • Optimize existing manufacturing methods to improve quality efficiency and throughput.
  • Evaluate tooling fixturing machining strategies and manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with customers and suppliers to resolve technical and manufacturing challenges.
  • Support production by troubleshooting machining and process-related issues.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity quality and cost reduction.
  • Assist with new product introduction and process development.

Required Training/Education/Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in precision machining or manufacturing engineering.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (Creo).
  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Experience interpreting engineering specifications and developing manufacturing work instructions.
  • Knowledge of aerospace special processes such as Chrome Plating Cadmium Plating Shot Peening Anodizing and Painting.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong analytical organizational and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Aerospace manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with CNC machining processes and manufacturing methods.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
  • ERP experience (Epicor experience is a plus).
