Job Description:

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months subject to legal requirements including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies as may be required regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a Manager Product Group Engineering Product Lifecycle Management.

Job Overview

This role is responsible for leading Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) capabilities that enable the end to end development change management and sustainment of DePuy Synthes products. The Manager Product Group Engineering partners closely with R&D Quality Regulatory Manufacturing and Supply Chain to ensure PLM platforms data and processes support innovation compliance and speed to market. This is a high-impact leadership role at the intersection of engineering IT and business strategy supporting the delivery of safe compliant and high-quality medical technologies and reports into the DePuy Synthes Technology organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage PLM product group engineering activities supporting R&D and product development across the product lifecycle from concept through commercialization and postmarket changes.
  • Own PLM platform capabilities configurations integrations and roadmaps to ensure alignment with R&D Quality Regulatory and Manufacturing needs.
  • Lead the application of AI advanced analytics and automation to modernize R&D platforms accelerating product development improving scientific and engineering insights and strengthening end to end decision making while enabling scalable compliant and efficient R&D operations from discovery through lifecycle management.
  • Partner with crossfunctional stakeholders to translate business and engineering requirements into scalable PLM solutions and governed processes.
  • Ensure PLM solutions comply with applicable regulatory quality and data integrity requirements (e.g. design controls change management traceability).
  • Lead and develop a team of engineers and analysts providing technical direction coaching and performance management.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance data quality system usability and operational efficiency across PLM processes.
  • Manage vendor relationships and system partners including solution delivery enhancements and support models.
  • Support digital transformation initiatives within R&D Technology including interoperability with adjacent systems (e.g. ERP MES QMS).

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelors degree required in Engineering Computer Science Information Systems or a related technical field.
  • Masters degree (MS or MBA) preferred.

Experience and Skills

Required:

  • 6-8 years of progressive experience in PLM engineering systems or R&D IT including handson experience with enterprise PLM platforms.
  • Strong understanding of product development and lifecycle processes within regulated environments such as medical devices life sciences or advanced manufacturing.
  • Experience leading crossfunctional initiatives that balance business priorities technical constraints and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams including coaching performance management and fostering an inclusive highperforming culture.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with the ability to translate complex requirements into practical scalable solutions.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills including the ability to influence without authority at senior levels.
  • Experience managing vendors system integrators or external partners in a global environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience with medical device design controls change management and configuration management within PLM platforms.
  • Exposure to digital transformation initiatives across R&D Manufacturing Quality or Supply Chain.
  • Familiarity with system integrations between PLM and ERP MES QMS or analytics platforms.
  • Prior experience in a matrixed global organization supporting multiple product franchises.
  • Formal peopleleadership experience in an IT or engineering function.

  • Language: English required.
  • Travel: Up to 1020% domestic and occasional international.
  • Certifications: PLM Agile or Project Management certifications preferred.

Pay Range 102000.00 - 204000.00 USD Annual

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
