Job Summary

Overview:

The Manager Infrastructure is a technical leader responsible for directing Altermans technology infrastructure program across every corporate office and active construction job site. This role leads through a team of infrastructure professionals and remains the final technical authority on infrastructure architecture standards and escalations. The Manager Infrastructure develops and maintains the infrastructure strategy and technology roadmap manages the infrastructure budget and capital plan vendor relationships and holds the team accountable to a strictly ranked project portfolio and committed delivery dates partners with business stakeholders to manage operational risk and ensures infrastructure systems meet the companys regulatory and industry compliance obligations. The Manager Infrastructure develops and maintains the infrastructure strategy and technology roadmap and manages the infrastructure budget capital plan and vendor relationships. This role holds the team accountable to a strictly ranked project portfolio and committed delivery dates and partners with business stakeholders to manage operational risk. The Manager Infrastructure also ensures infrastructure systems meet the companys regulatory and industry compliance obligations.

Essential Functions:

1. Team Leadership & Management: 30%

  • Leads the Infrastructure team including supervision mentoring training performance management and career development of direct reports.
  • Sets individual goals and priorities assigns work and holds the team accountable to committed delivery dates and quality standards.
  • Recruits develops and retains infrastructure talent and builds succession depth across the team.
  • Manages the on-call rotation workload balance and escalation paths for infrastructure incidents.
  • Serves as the senior escalation point and final technical authority when the team cannot resolve an issue.
  • Fosters a culture of documentation accountability and continuous improvement.

2. Infrastructure Architecture & Technical Direction: 10%

  • Oversees the enterprise server virtualization storage and cloud architecture and approves the designs and standards the team implements.
  • Evaluates and selects infrastructure platforms and tools for new and existing systems applications and facilities.
  • Directs automation of provisioning configuration management and patching and sets the standards it is built to.
  • Reviews capacity performance and architecture assessments and decides the ranked remediation plan.

3. Network & Connectivity Oversight: 10%

  • Oversees the enterprise network architecture and standards including routing and switching firewalls wireless VPN and network segmentation.
  • Directs connectivity for corporate offices construction job sites and remote workers including carrier and circuit management.
  • Leads technology buildout for new regional offices and construction job sites including on-site assessment structured cabling circuits wireless coverage and field infrastructure.
  • Governs network configuration baselines and change control and is the final authority on complex connectivity and performance escalations.

4. Reliability Continuity & Disaster Recovery: 10%

  • Owns availability monitoring and incident response for all infrastructure systems.
  • Develops and maintains business continuity and disaster recovery plans including documented recovery point and recovery time objectives.
  • Directs recovery testing on a defined cadence and reports results to leadership.
  • Governs change management for all infrastructure changes.

5. Infrastructure Strategy Budget & Program Management: 20%

  • Develops implements and maintains the enterprise infrastructure strategy standards and multi-year technology roadmap aligned with business objectives.
  • Manages the infrastructure operating budget and capital plan including forecasting hardware lifecycle and refresh planning and spend accountability.
  • Manages vendor relationships service levels contract review and renewal negotiation.
  • Maintains a strictly ranked project portfolio sets delivery dates and reports status risk and slippage.
  • Reports infrastructure posture operational risk and program effectiveness to executive leadership.
  • Partners with business stakeholders across departments to plan infrastructure for growth new locations and new systems.
  • Stays current with emerging technologies and industry best practices.

6. Security Compliance & Risk: 15%

  • Owns the infrastructure side of the companys compliance obligations and partners with Cybersecurity to implement and maintain the NIST CSF 2.0 configuration baseline.
  • Directs closure of identified control gaps on infrastructure systems and provides audit evidence for CMMC SOC 2 and NIST activities.
  • Maintains the infrastructure risk picture including single points of failure end-of-life systems and remediation plans.
  • Supports identity and access management including role-based access and joiner mover and leaver automation.
  • Owns infrastructure vulnerability remediation and patching commitments and reports progress against them.

7. 5%

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology Information Systems or related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in infrastructure network engineering systems engineering or related technology disciplines required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of infrastructure management or leadership experience required.
  • Cisco CCNP Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert or an equivalent senior-level technical certification required.
  • Additional certifications preferred (e.g. CCIE Azure Administrator Associate Nutanix NCP VMware VCP ITIL Foundation PMP).
  • Deep familiarity with compliance frameworks required (NIST CMMC SOC 2).
  • Demonstrated ability to perform technical infrastructure work across multiple disciplines (network server virtualization cloud storage).

Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts to executive leadership and board-level audiences translating operational risk into clear business impact and actionable decisions.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management capability with the ability to motivate develop and hold technical teams accountable.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to align infrastructure initiatives architectures and capital investment with organizational goals and risk tolerance.
  • Proven ability to perform and lead hands-on technical work including scripting and automation using PowerShell Python and Microsoft Graph API to improve efficiency and consistency.
  • Advanced knowledge of enterprise networking including TCP/IP DNS DHCP VLANs routing and switching protocols network segmentation firewalls wireless and VPN.
  • Deep understanding of Windows Server Active Directory Group Policy and Microsoft Entra ID across hybrid environments.
  • Solid expertise in server virtualization and storage platforms including Nutanix AHV VMware vSphere Hyper-V SAN and NAS.
  • Experience designing and operating hybrid and cloud environments using Microsoft Azure Intune and Microsoft 365.
  • Strong knowledge of backup business continuity and disaster recovery including documented recovery objectives and regular recovery testing.
  • Strong technical writing skills with the ability to develop clear infrastructure standards procedures runbooks diagrams and compliance documentation.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities coordinate cross-functional initiatives and drive infrastructure programs to completion.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess risk identify root causes and recommend practical scalable solutions.
  • Able to manage vendor relationships contract review and budget planning across a multi-site environment.

Work Environment:

  • Split between an office environment and field locations including regional offices active construction job sites server rooms MDFs IDFs job trailers and temporary office spaces.
  • Regular travel between company locations and job sites required.
  • Occasional work in confined spaces and at elevation.
  • Occasional exposure to outdoor conditions such as heat cold dust and noise.
  • Personal protective equipment required on active job sites.
  • Able to work outside normal business hours and participate in the on-call rotation as needed.

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer alternating with periods of standing walking climbing and working in the field.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces.
  • Manual dexterity associated with computer data entry required.
