Position Summary
The EHSS Manager II provides strategic leadership and direction for the development implementation and continuous improvement of environmental health safety and security (EHSS) programs across one or more manufacturing or distribution facilities. This position ensures compliance with company standards industry best practices and governmental regulations while driving proactive risk mitigation and fostering a strong safety culture. The EHSS Manager II partners closely with operations leadership and corporate EHSS teams to achieve company-wide safety and environmental goals.
Position Responsibilities
Lead the implementation and oversight of EHSS programs to ensure compliance with federal state and local regulations as well as corporate standards.
Develop and execute EHSS strategic plans that align with company objectives driving a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
Advise and support operations leadership on EHSS initiatives including hazard prevention incident management and continuous improvement.
Oversee development and delivery of EHSS training programs to enhance compliance awareness and safe behaviors at all levels of the organization.
Conduct site inspections audits and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Manage incident reporting root cause analysis and follow-up actions to ensure timely and effective resolution.
Lead the creation and tracking of site-specific EHSS goals KPIs and performance metrics that support corporate initiatives.
Support environmental compliance activities including waste management emissions monitoring spill prevention and sustainability initiatives.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure all equipment processes and operations meet applicable EHSS and quality standards.
Serve as liaison for external agencies and auditors during inspections maintaining accurate documentation and compliance records.
Administer site PPE programs including prescription eyewear and safety footwear and coordinate EHSS-related capital and improvement projects.
Provide mentorship guidance and leadership to site EHSS team members and act as a resource for other facilities when required.
Partner with the Corporate Director of EHSS to share best practices and support enterprise-wide improvement initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing EHSS programs in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
Proven success in developing and implementing EHSS strategies policies and procedures.
Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA EPA DOT and other applicable regulations and standards.
Demonstrated leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence and drive cultural change.
Strong analytical organizational and problem-solving abilities with a focus on results and compliance.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook) and EHSS data management systems.
Experience in Lean manufacturing Kaizen Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) preferred.
Education
Bachelors degree in Environmental Health Safety or a related field or equivalent experience
