Summary
Performs breast imaging exams which may include but is not limited to screening and diagnostic mammographic breast imaging exams as assigned. Performs quality control on mammography equipment and/or diagnostic review workstations. Maintains an environment of patient safety and compliance according to the standards established by governing body requirements. Performing basic clerical duties and/or appointment scheduling may be required. Rotates locations and shifts as assigned to meet departmental needs.
Job Duties
- Interacts professionally as an effective team member promoting a positive work environment; communicates and works collaboratively with all care teams as appropriate and assists with orientation of new colleagues.
- Performs quality mammographic images utilizing ACR positioning guidelines along with evaluating technical quality of images; makes necessary adjustments in positioning and/or technical factors to optimize images for all breast imaging studies.
- Confirms patient identification reviews imaging requests confirms study with patient and enters accurate information into the EMR; explains procedures and provides education to patients.
- Complies with hospital and department policies and procedures and completes assigned education modules; maintains MSQA/FDA/ACR compliance and assists with performance improvement.
- Ensures proper breast imaging equipment operation and performs quality control evaluations as required.
- Assists in error monitoring troubleshooting calling for repairs and notifying department management; recommends and implements appropriate actions based on accurate and timely reporting of departmental findings and assumes responsibility for cleanliness of equipment and maintaining supplies.
Minimum Qualifications
- Specialized Diploma Graduate of AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology
- Less than 1 year experience in screening and diagnostic mammographic breast imaging
- Ability to initiate accept and adapt to constant change within a healthcare environment.
- Ability to recognize analyze and solve a variety of problems.
- Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to perform quality imaging and communicate with patients
- Flexibility in work hours and/or sites to meet identified needs. Performs necessary assignments as directed
- RT - Registered Technologist Radiology - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Upon Hire
- CMT - Certified Mammography Technologist - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Upon Hire
- BLS - Basic Life Support AHA - American Heart Association within 60 Days
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates Degree Graduate of AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology
- 1 year experience in screening and diagnostic breast imaging or
- 1 year experience with full-field digital mammography and/or 3D mammographic imaging
Physical Demands
Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing frequent keyboard use *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling bending squatting and performing CPR.
