Job Summary

The Mammography Technologist is responsible for the maintenance and quality of patient care on a continuing basis for the Mammography department and throughout the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
These duties and responsibilities described below represent the general tasks performed on a daily basis; other tasks may be assigned.
  • Produce a variety of high-quality radiographs through proper positioning and technique
  • Perform visual preventative safety inspections and report dangerous department or equipment conditions to the appropriate personnel; communicate equipment malfunctions and low inventory levels to the Operations Manager
  • Utilize all assigned functions of the Radiology Information Computer System (RIGS); utilize the hospital computer system to enter radiology and laboratory orders charges and/or credits
  • Practice radiation safety in accordance with department policies
  • Follow NRC and State regulations for radiation safety and keep exposure ALARA
  • Confirm patient identity prior to procedure via verbal communication on outpatients and/or identification bands on inpatients
  • Perform procedures as the schedule requires and rotate calls as needed
  • Attend required hospital-wide orientations meetings and in-services
  • Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work scheduling when necessary to ensure patient care
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Reports to: Mammography Lead / Director. May be assigned work from the Radiologists the Administrative Director and other Clinical Leads
  • Supervises: None

Education and Experience
  • Minimum Required Education: Successful completion of an accredited Radiologist Technology program
  • Preferred Education: Not applicable
  • Experience: Prior experience as a Registered Technologist is preferred but will consider new graduates
Certificates Licenses Registrations
  • Must be ARRT registered
  • Certified in Mammography within 12 months of date of hire
  • BLS required
