Job Summary
You will serve as a Maintenance Worker Leader (Seasonal). This position is a working leader assigned responsibility for building and utility maintenance work. The position provides daily direction to at least 3 employees.
The typical seasonal entry-on-duty is April-October but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions project needs or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: April-May 2027.

Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following:
- As a working leader performs and leads work in the following trades: carpentry painting plumbing electrical cement finishing and masonry.
- Construct install repair and replace items such as doors shelves supply racks hardware. Paint various types of structures such as interior and exterior metal wood and masonry surfaces and a variety of wooden trim and new and old cabinets.
- Make independent judgments and decisions within the framework of instructions accepted practices and procedures.
- Follow and carry out assignments in accordance with established oral or written directions or established policies and practices.
- Assemble appropriate materials and supplies necessary to complete daily work projects.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.

- You must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program.

Temporary Appointment: This is a temporary seasonal appointment not to exceed 1039 hours. The appointment is expected to end upon completion of the seasons work.
Non-Competitive Rehire Eligibility: Non-Competitive Rehire Eligibility: As a temporary seasonal employee you can be rehired in future seasons without reapplying as long as you do not exceed 1039 hours anywhere in the Department of Interior during your service year.
Rehire eligibility applies to the same position or to another position with the same qualification requirements as long as it is a temporary seasonal appointment. Your service year is the 12 months that begin on the date of your first temporary appointment with the bureau and it starts over on that date each year. Every temporary appointment you hold with the bureau during a service year counts toward the total.

Physical Demands: Works from ladders scaffolds and platforms. Where surfaces are to be coated or the parts of systems worked on are hard to reach requiring incumbent to stand stoop bend kneel climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts carries and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions: The work is done inside and outside where dirt spray fumes is present. Also required to work in extreme weather conditions and/or wear protective equipment and clothing that are sometimes heavy and uncomfortable. Frequently exposed to the potential risk of broken bones shock burns cuts and bruises.
