Job Summary
This position is located with the Department of the Interior National Park Service Acadia National Park with a duty station of Bar Harbor ME.
Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following:
- Must be efficient at cleaning restrooms for the public within our 2 campgrounds. Which is includes proper dilution ratios for chemicals
- Must be able to use leaf blowers hand tools lawn mowers.
- Must be able to operate ride on lawn mowers and UTVs.
- Must provide proof of U.S. citizenship.
- Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- Males born aftermust be registered for Selective Service.
- Direct Deposit participation required.
- Successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. To learn more visit have and maintain a valid drivers license throughout employment.
- You are required to wear a uniform and comply with the uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
- You may be required to work on-call evenings weekends holidays overtime and shift work.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds
Physical Demands: Works from ladders scaffolds and platforms and where surfaces to be coated or the parts of systems worked on are hard to reach that require incumbent to stand stoop bend kneel climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts carries and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to 40 pounds.
Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside where dirt spray and fumes are present. Also required to work in inclement weather and/or wear protective equipment and clothing that are sometimes heavy and
uncomfortable.
A selectee receiving a first appointment to the Federal Government (Civil Service) is entitled only to the lowest step of the grade for which selected. The display of a salary range on this vacancy shall not be construed as granting an entitlement to a higher rate of pay.

To qualify for this position you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in one of the following job-related factors:
- I have worked as a Laborer cleaning sinks toilets sweeping and mopping floors and cleaning windows. I have unclogged sinks toilets and drains. I have replaced fuses and light bulbs and checked breakers. I removed trees brush and limbs. I performed grounds maintenance work including mowing weed eating and placement of landscaping timbers. I performed these duties in campgrounds picnic areas visitor centers or other park facilities and grounds. I assisted journeyman level employees in completing maintenance projects which included painting and carpentry work.
- I have worked as a laborer cleaning sinks toilets sweeping and mopping floors replacing fuses and light bulbs mowing and weed eating replacing tables grills and tent pads.
- I have performed laborer tasks such as cleaning restrooms unclogging sinks and toilets replacing fuses and light bulbs mowing and weed whacking.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.
Current surplus and current or former displaced Federal individuals who have special priority selection rights under the Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) must be well qualified for the position to receive consideration for special priority selection. This position will be filled under the Field Unit Local Hiring Authority. Eligibility is limited to applicants who reside within the defined local commuting area at the time of application. For this announcement the local commuting area is the area from which individuals can reasonably commute to the duty station under normal conditions. Non-Competitive Rehire Eligibility: Temporary seasonal employees can only maintain their non-competitive rehire eligibility if they work no more than a combined total of Temporary NTE less than 1040 hours within their established service year. Accordingly non-competitive rehire eligibility allows for re-appointment to the same position or another position appropriate for temporary appointment with the same qualification requirements (5 CFR 316.402b7) based on series and grade anywhere in the major subdivision.
If you have held a temporary seasonal appointment in the past 12 months and have already worked the maximum temporary appointment less than 1040 hours during that period you are still welcome to apply. However please be aware that exceeding the limit of 1040 hours in your established service year will result in the loss of your non-competitive rehire eligibility.
The limit can be exceeded by working multiple temporary seasonal positions that result in a combined total greater than 1040 hours. The limit also can be exceeded by working a single temporary seasonal appointment that exceeds 1040 hours unless granted an exception by OPM.
Employment may be terminated at any time due to fluctuations in funding levels project needs employee performance or other considerations.
The duties of this position are not suitable for telework.
