Job Summary
Performs routine repair and maintenance duties of County-owned building facilities such as HVAC electrical plumbing and general contract addition to maintaining buildings may be responsible for grounds maintenance.
Respondstoallworkrequests(includingHVACelectricalcarpentrymechanicaletc.) Follows theestablished preventative maintenance schedules forallfacilities
Performs routinecarpentrytaskssuchasassistinginconstruction andrepair of partitionswallscabinetsand furniture.
Performs plumbing tasks such as assisting with repair of burst pipes and elimination of clogs from toilets sinks and drains; repairs or replaces water coolers.
Performselectricaltasks such as replacinglight bulbs and assistingwith repair ofelectricalcircuitsand the installation of new lines.
Performsrepairandmaintenanceofheatingandairconditioningunits
Assistsinaccomplishinggeneralmaintenanceworkforotherdepartmentsasneeded Assists withordering partssupplies andmaterials forthedepartment.
Assiststhefireinspectoronallcounty buildings
Cutsgrassandusesaweedeatertotrimlawns;lubricatesweedeaterasneeded;cleans aroundareas aftercutting.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
General knowledge of facilities maintenance toinclude HVAC electrical systems plumbing systems mechanical systems andcarpentry methods andstandards.
Knowledge of thestandardpractices methods materials andtoolsof thecarpentry trade. Knowledge of electrical wiring installation.
Knowledgeoflocalbuilding codes.
Knowledgeof airconditioningmaintenanceand repair.
Knowledgeofsafeworkpractices;safeandeffectiveuseofequipmentandtools. Skillin general building maintenance i.e. plumbing painting etc.
Skillinoperatingvarioussawsplumbingandelectrical equipment andhandandsmallpowertools in reading blueprints.
Skillininterpersonalrelations;ability tocopeanddealwithpeopleinacourteous manner.
Good communicationskills; must be able to acceptand understandinstructionand must beable to effectively work under supervision.
Must be able to perform strenuous and routine work.
High School Diploma or equivalent. RSES CertificationSome electrical experience preferred
