Job Summary

Maintenance II

Granby Public Schools is seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance II employee to support the maintenance repair and operation of district buildings grounds and athletic fields. The ideal candidate will bring broad commercial building maintenance experience strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative facilities team.

This is a full-time year-round position with an anticipated start date as soon as possible.

Schedule: MondayFriday 6:30 a.m.3:00 p.m.

Starting Rate: $32.81 per hour in accordance with the UPSEU collective bargaining agreement

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance and repairs involving mechanical electrical plumbing building control and related systems
  • Complete preventive maintenance and assigned work orders accurately and efficiently
  • Maintain district buildings school grounds and athletic fields using appropriate equipment
  • Operate and assist with computer-based building and energy-management systems
  • Interpret blueprints manuals diagrams and operating procedures
  • Assess maintenance needs and respond appropriately to urgent or emergency situations
  • Assist with facility setups equipment movement and snow and ice removal
  • Coordinate effectively with facilities staff custodians administrators and outside tradespeople
  • Maintain safe clean and orderly work areas and follow established safety procedures
  • Participate in rotating emergency coverage and remain available for after-hours call-ins
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school or trade school diploma required
  • Five years of commercial building maintenance experience strongly preferred
  • Trade license or certification in HVAC plumbing electrical work refrigeration or another relevant field preferred
  • Broad working knowledge of building systems maintenance practices tools and equipment
  • Valid drivers license required
  • Ability to work independently exercise sound judgment and prioritize assignments
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position including walking bending climbing ladders and stairs lifting operating power equipment and working in varying indoor and outdoor conditions
  • Availability for overtime emergency call-ins rotating emergency coverage and required snow- and ice-removal operations
