Overall Objective

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the overall daily care of the campus buildings and grounds and will assist the Director of Facilities and the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor with daily operations and maintenance tasks as required.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED required.
  • The position requires a valid Wisconsin drivers license which must be maintained throughout employment an acceptably safe driving record ability to drive various vehicles including trucks straight trucks and buses. It may be required to qualify for and maintain a CDL license with passenger endorsement to be paid for by Brookfield Academy.
  • This position requires the ability to safely lift loads in excess of 50 lbs. climb ladders stand for long periods of time and navigate adverse weather or environment conditions.
  • Must have above-average technical aptitude; including knowledge and ability to service repair and maintain small engine equipment.
  • Must have knowledge of and ability to perform related working procedures in landscape and site maintenance including but not limited to:
    • Operation and maintenance of mowing equipment
    • General landscape repair including weed control and irrigation components
    • Tree and shrub installation pruning and maintenance
    • Operation of snow removal equipment and de-icing procedures
  • Must have knowledge of and ability to perform related working procedures in building maintenance including but not limited to:
    • Operation maintenance and repair of HVAC equipment
    • Routine HVAC filter changes including RTUs
    • Repair of door locks closers and general safety infrastructure
    • General/basic plumbing repairs
    • Electrical repairs and troubleshooting
    • Repairs and troubleshooting of lighting components such as ballasts/drivers
    • Painting drywall and wallpaper repairs
    • Basic carpentry and woodworking skills
    • Carpet VCT and LVP repairs and maintenance
    • General inspection and documentation of outdoor playground equipment
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully this person must be able to achieve each essential duty satisfactorily. The following list is not all inclusive and may be expanded from time to time to include other duties and responsibilities as the administration may deem necessary.

  • Work in coordination with facilities staff in preparation for and after school functions events and ceremonies. This may require work outside of the normal workday to accommodate certain school event setups and teardowns.
  • Required to work outdoors for extended periods of time on tasks such as sports field lining snow removal or directing traffic regardless of weather conditions.
  • Ability to work with faculty and students in a private school setting; prior experience in a school or similar environment is desirable.
  • Assist with general housekeeping and custodial duties as required.
  • Assist with inventory control of custodial and maintenance equipment and supplies.
  • Attend meetings seminars or other continuing education programs as may be required to refine and enhance the departments operations.
  • Maintain maintenance equipment and tools in good working condition.
  • Assist with routine and emergency repairs as may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities and Buildings and Grounds Supervisor.
