Job Summary
Job Purpose
Primary responsibility of an Equipment Maintenance Technician is to maintain and repair electro-mechanical and chemical equipment used in the production of semiconductor wafers in a clean-room environment. Equipment Maintenance Technician performs troubleshooting routine preventative maintenance provide tool ownership and participate in projects that improve equipment capabilities.

Troubleshoot mechanical electrical robotic and vacuum integrity problems
Interact with production and engineering personnel to meet customer and production requirements
Repair semiconductor processing equipment
Communicate to Equipment Maintenance Manager parts that need to be ordered
Perform routine maintenance on equipment
Document and update tool PM specs in company Quality Management System
Perform accurate calculations for the estimated cost of simple projects or providing service including labor materials and equipment.

Work Environment
- Equipment Maintenance Technicians work up to 12-hour shifts in a wafer fab.
- Roughly 75-80% of day is spent in a temperature-controlled cleanroom environment; must be able to tolerate full coverage cleanroom gown boots hood safety glasses and other PPE.
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is to prevent exposure to hazardous materials such as low/high voltage gases high air pressure chemicals solvents and acids can be expected.
- Some areas require hearing protection
- Frequent gowning and de-gowning expected
- Frequent interruptions static noise and alarms (auditory and flashing lights) can be expected.
Physical Demands
- Frequently in a stationary position often sitting and/or standing for prolonged periods
- Frequently viewing a computer monitor for prolonged periods
- Frequently walking around the Fab for prolonged periods including across uneven flooring
- Occasionally required to push and/or pull 50 lbs. objects such as tool components
- Occasionally required to lift 50 lbs. and occasionally carry that amount short distances
- Frequently required reach bend and/or crawl twist squat kneel and stoop to access and work on tools in the Fab
- May often require repetitive motions involving the wrists hands and/or fingers
- May require different positions and motions in tight and confined spaces
- Frequently required to handle items using small ranges of motion (e.g. fingers and hands) and large ranges of motion (e.g. full-arms and shoulders) for carrying cassettes and lot boxes
- Occasionally required to climb ladders and other secure structures as well as balance
- Occasionally required to operate a motor vehicle or heavy machinery
- Occasionally required to wear PPE that may restrict air-flow
- Requires the proper wearing of clean room garments (suit head covering face coverings gloves booties).
Required Education and Experience
- Associates Degree in an electronics technology related field with 3 years of work experience troubleshooting/repairing sophisticated manufacturing automation or process related electro-mechanical systems.
- Or HS/GED with at least 9 years of experience with troubleshooting/repairing sophisticated manufacturing automation or process related electro-mechanical systems
- Or Military technician experience (Naval Submarine Technician type experience is preferred)
- Experience with CMP tool sets and equipment highly desired
- Experience working on with support equipment suppliers to include but not limited to: Applied Materials Endura Centura Etch P5000 Anelva 7100Mega Novellus Inova SPTS APM and Bosch Etch 12 Novellus Vector C2 C1 TEL Unity and Telius Lam Rainbow.
Preferred Education and Experience
Should have formal training on equipment in at least one standard area of Fab; Etch Lith Diffusion Implant etc.
Experience with TEL LAM AMAT Plasma Etchers and/or Novellus and AMAT CVD Equipment is preferred.

Work Environment
Work is primarily performed in a temperature-controlled open cubicle setting. Frequent interruptions and conversational noise can be expected. This role may also require occasional work in a manufacturing or cleanroom environment.

Expected salary range: $30.00 $55.00 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.
