The Maintenance Mechanicmaintainsoperatingconditionof equipment and buildings and completes simple repairs.In this role you will perform inspection preventive maintenanceserviceand repair of equipmentbuildingand central energy plant systemsutilizingyour knowledge of fundamental mechanical electricalcarpentryor opportunity will provide you with the ability to learn enhance yourskillsand grow within Cleveland Clinic.We are dedicated to making a regional impact in the communities we serve by hiring local talent and educating the healthcare workforce of the future.

A caregiver in this position worksSunday-Thursdayfrom2:30PM 11:00PM.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Monitor and evaluate facility and central energy plant environment for deficiencies safety hazards brokenequipmentand aesthetic improvements.

  • Perform repairs preventivemaintenanceand improvements according to Federal and State codes and standards local and State buildingcodesand manufacturers specifications.

  • Maintain a cleanorderlyand safe work area.

  • Use proper warning signs and safety equipment to ensure the safety of others.

  • Monitor and report abnormal operation of central energy plant equipment.

  • Use proper hand or power tools to complete tasks.

  • Use personal protective equipment when necessary.

  • Routinely pick up work orders in the Plant Operations department and complete them promptly.

  • Report to Supervisor orDirectorany problems or items requiring follow up or for notifying the following shift.

  • Respond to emergency situations promptly takingappropriate actionin them.

  • Notify the Supervisor or Director when emergenciesdeficienciesand safety hazards are identified.

  • Assistcustomers in a professional and courteous manner cooperates with others.

  • Assistoutside contractors on site for equipment and building repairs.

  • Perform inspections repairs and preventative maintenance of equipmentbuildingand central energy plant systems.

  • Estimate time and materialson work orders.

  • Maintain necessary parts and tools to complete tasks.

  • Coordinate shut down activities with Plant Operations Supervisor.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • High School Degree or GED

  • Three to five years of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic

  • Fundamental mechanical ability

  • Experience in a healthcare setting

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Electrical Plumbing or HVAC Mechanic Certification

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods
  • Ability to be mobile for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information
  • Ability to move/transport items weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)
  • Ability to move/transport equipment weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)
  • Ability to move/transport carts weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)
  • Ability to inspect equipment
  • Ability to install repair and maintain systems equipment fixtures and/or structures
  • Ability to climb ladders.
  • May be exposed to communicable diseases.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
