Job Summary

Viwinco is seeking a Maintenance Lead to serve as the senior hands-on technical authority and informal working leader across our maintenance operations. This role combines mechanical electrical and automation/controls expertise with day-to-day leadership of maintenance activity on the floor directing work mentoring technicians and driving first-time-fix quality on our high-speed automated vinyl forming and extrusion lines. The Lead Technician also assumes primary ownership of all maintenance activity establishing consistent expert-level support across operations. This is an individual contributor position that carries technical leadership responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Coordination

  • Direct work: Act as the on-the-floor technical lead during assigned shifts directing and coordinating the work of maintenance technicians on complex or high-priority repairs.
  • Escalation ownership: Serve as the escalation point for difficult troubleshooting calls across mechanical electrical and automation systems; own the diagnosis through resolution.
  • Mentorship: Mentor and train technicians on advanced diagnostic techniques safe work practices and equipment-specific knowledge; help develop bench strength across the team.
  • Cross-team coordination: Partner with the Maintenance Supervisor Reliability Engineers and Facility Supervisor to prioritize work plan major repairs/rebuilds and align on root-cause corrective actions.
  • Project leadership: Lead or actively participate in planned shutdowns PM events and equipment installations/relocations coordinating labor and sequencing of work.
  • Standards: Model and enforce safety standards lockout/tagout and quality expectations; hold the team accountable to procedures.

Mechanical & Electrical

  • Troubleshooting & repair: Diagnose and repair mechanical systems on equipment including hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Diagnostics & repair: Troubleshoot and repair 24V480V control and power circuits motor controls VFDs servo drives and industrial power distribution equipment to the component level.
  • Schematics & safety: Read and work from electrical schematics ladder logic and wiring diagrams; safely perform live and de-energized troubleshooting per NFPA 70E and site LOTO procedures.
  • Installation support: Support panel builds wiring upgrades and electrical infrastructure improvements on production and facility equipment.

Automation & Reliability

  • PLC/HMI: Troubleshoot and support PLC-based control systems HMI interfaces sensors and networked I/O across production lines.
  • Reliability collaboration: Work with automation technicians and the Reliability Engineer to improve machine reliability through controls-level root-cause analysis.

Ownership & Documentation

  • Primary ownership: Serve as the primary maintenance owner for the operation covering mechanical electrical and automation/controls.
  • Program build-out: Establish and maintain PM routines spare parts recommendations and troubleshooting documentation specific to the equipment.
  • Vendor coordination: Coordinate with equipment OEMs and specialty vendors for systems as needed for major repairs or technical support.
  • CMMS (Fiix): Document all work performed findings and parts used in Fiix CMMS in a timely and accurate manner; close out work orders with sufficient detail for trend analysis.
  • Data quality: Recommend and help maintain PM schedules spare parts inventory levels and equipment documentation (manuals schematics SOPs).

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical certification in industrial maintenance electrical/electromechanical technology mechatronics or a related field preferred.
  • 5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment with demonstrated depth across mechanical electrical and automation/controls disciplines; prior lead senior technician or informal leadership experience strongly preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Mechanical: Advanced troubleshooting of mechanical power transmission hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Electrical: Strong working knowledge of industrial electrical systems motor controls VFDs/servos and NFPA 70E safe work practices.
  • Automation: Practical experience with PLCs HMIs and industrial networks; ability to read and interpret ladder logic.
  • CMMS: Comfortable working in a CMMS for work order management PM scheduling and documentation.
  • Blueprint/schematic reading: Skilled at reading mechanical electrical and P&ID/schematic drawings.

Leadership & Professional Skills

  • Informal leadership: Demonstrated ability to direct the work of others coach less-experienced technicians and drive accountability without formal supervisory authority.
  • Communication: Clear direct communicator able to coordinate across shifts and with supervisors engineers and vendors.
  • Ownership: Strong ownership mentality; willing to take on ambiguous areas and build structure around them.
  • Decision-making: Sound judgment under pressure during downtime events; able to prioritize and make decisions with incomplete information.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Regularly required to stand walk climb bend kneel and work in elevated or confined spaces; frequently lifts/moves up to 50 lbs.
  • May require off-shift weekend or on-call response to support production and emergency repairs.
