Machinist

Position Introduction:

The Sooner Advanced Manufacturing Laboratorys Machinist will support the fabrication and integration of components using additive and traditional manufacturing equipment available in the lab. This individual will program and operate various metal additive manufacturing and CNC machines to produce finished components fixturing and tooling integral to the production of various engineering systems. This individual will also assist in electrical and mechanical integration to support research projects and educational activities.

Required Education and Experience:

• Associates degree.
• 30 months of machinist electronics or engineering experience.

Equivalency/Substitution:Will accept 24 months experience in lieu of the Associates degree for a total of 54 months of related experience.

Department Preferences:

• Understanding of additive manufacturing especially metal-related Proficiency in SolidWorks or Fusion Proficiency in machining operations cutter geometrics based on materials orders of operations and concepts
• Proficiency reading and understanding mechanical diagrams and schematics
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
• Ability to use hand tools to include but not limited to wrenches screwdrivers DMM O-scope soldering and hand drills
• Ability to use larger machines to include but not limited to table saw bandsaw lathe mill drill press grinder belt sander break and shears
