Machine Shop, Lead

Essential Responsibilities

• Lead daily shop floor activities and assist in prioritizing work assignments.
• Assist with troubleshooting machining setup tooling fixture and equipment issues to minimize downtime.
• Support production scheduling and ensure work is completed efficiently and on time.
• Serve as a resource for team members regarding processes equipment and quality standards.
• Monitor workflow and communicate staffing or production concerns to management.
• Assist with onboarding and training of new employees.
• Promote safe work practices and ensure compliance with all safety requirements.
• Support quality initiatives and assist in resolving production issues.
• Foster teamwork accountability and positive employee relations.
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure operational needs are met.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives including Lean Manufacturing 5S waste reduction and process improvement activities.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Working knowledge of machining equipment tooling and inspection methods.
• Must have experience with milling equipment and machine shop practices
• Demonstrated technical knowledge of machine shop operations.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience serving as a lead trainer mentor or informal team leader preferred
• Ability to lead and influence others without direct authority.
• Basic computer proficiency.
