Job Summary

Dedham Middle School will need a Long Term Substitute Math Teacher at the beginning of the FY27 school year.

Dedham Public Schools seeks candidates who share our commitment to the advancement of students from underrepresented groups or who have been historically marginalized.

This leave will begin on the first day of school and is expected to run through the end of November - return date to be determined.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must hold proper state certification through MA DESE

REPORTS TO:

  • Principal and/or Department Chair

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Implement a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives.
  2. Diagnose and evaluate student abilities and progress in a timely and consistent manner.
  3. Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  4. Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs interests and abilities of the students.
  5. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
  6. Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
  7. Refer students for alternative services as provided by the District (ESL Reading Special Reading).
  8. Effectively implement district initiatives.
  9. Effectively collaborate with department and grade level teachers.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Abide by state statutes school board policies and regulations.
  2. Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
  3. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
  4. Maintain accurate complete and correct records as required by law district policy and administrative regulation.
  5. Serve on committees as assigned.
  6. Remain current on instructional practices in education. (e.g. instructional technology)
