Job Summary

Crossing Guard - Hourly

PURPOSE
Assists students in crossing streets; performs related work asrequired.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary function of an employee in this class is to provide a safe environment for students andassistthem to cross streets. The position is supervised by the building Principal. The primary duties of the position are performed outdoors with exposure to inclement weather and possible hazardous conditions from street traffic.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Operate standard crosswalk and related safetyequipment;
  • Provides a safe environment for students to cross busy streetsina crosswalk at a corner traffic signal or other traffic control point or other designated crossingpoint;
  • Provides traffic and pedestriancontrol;
  • Reports hazardous conditions situations drivers and violations to the building Principal or police asdirected;
  • Reports student disciplinary actions and violations to a supervisor or the building Principal asdirected;
  • Performs all work duties and activitiesin accordance withDistrict policies procedures and safety practices.
  • May perform lunchroom playground bus and other monitoring duties asassigned;
  • Performs other related duties asrequired.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Basic traffic laws andprocedures;
  • Basic traffic control and pedestrian safety methods techniques andobjectives;
  • School rules and behaviorrequirements;
  • Disciplinary and behavior modification methods and techniques.


KNOWLEDGESKILLSAND ABILITIES

Ability to:

  • Follow oral and written instructions andobserveDistrict policies andprocedures;
  • Provide a safe environment for students crossing and waiting to cross streets to access schoolgrounds;
  • Discern and react appropriately to emergency or safetysituations;
  • Prepare andmaintainrequired records files reports logs statistics anddocumentation;
  • Operate standard crosswalk and related safetyequipment;
  • Establish andmaintaineffective working relationships with students parents teachers and staff members and other Districtpersonnel;
  • Communicate effectively both orally and inwriting;
  • Maintain student and Districtconfidentiality;
  • Demonstrate integrityingenuityand inventiveness in the performance of assigned tasks.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.


ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL ABILITIES

  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities with or without reasonable accommodation whichpermitsthe employee to discern verbal conversation and to communicate effectively on the telephone and inperson;
  • Sufficient visual acuity with or without reasonable accommodation whichpermitsthe employee tocomprehendwritten work and assessments prepare and review documents and organize documents andmaterials;
  • Sufficient manual dexterity with or without reasonable accommodation whichpermitsthe employee to perform repetitive hand/wrist/arm motions and tooperatea computer and officeequipment;
  • Sufficient personal mobility flexibility and balance with or without reasonable accommodation whichpermitsthe employee to work in an office environment lifting or moving objects that weigh up to 20lbs.;
  • Job tasks require with or without reasonable accommodation climbing stooping kneeling crouching reaching pushing pullingliftingandgrasping;
  • Must have a valid Idaho Drivers License and a vehicle to drive and/or must provideowntransportation for job related activities.

Noon Duty

PURPOSE
Provides supervision of students in the cafeteria and on the playground during lunch periods; performs related work asrequired.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary function of an employee in this class is to provide a safe and supervised environment for students in the lunchroom or cafeteria and on the playground during lunch periods. The position is supervised by the building Principal. The primary duties of the position are performed in a school cafeteria and outdoors with exposure to inclement weather.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Provides a safe and supervised environment for students in the cafeteria and adjacent areas and on theplayground;
  • Enforces school rules and administers disciplinaryactions;
  • Redirects unwanted behaviors and provides conflictresolution;
  • Provides First Aidassistance;
  • Checks sports and recreational equipment in andout;
  • Ensuresstudents return to classin a timelymanner;
  • Reports hazardous conditions and situations and serious disciplinary problems to a supervisor or the building Principal asdirected;
  • Performs all work duties and activitiesin accordance withDistrict policies procedures and safety practices.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • May perform other monitoring duties asassigned;
  • Performs other related duties asrequired.

  • Sufficient personal mobility agility strength and reflexes with or without reasonable accommodation whichpermitsthe employee to stand forlong periodsof time walk and work in a school cafeteria and outside playground environments and be able tolift upto 20 pounds.
