The Low Voltage Supervisor is an opportunity for an experienced electrical and low-voltage professional to combine technicalexpertisewith hands-on leadership in a complex campus environment.
Leading a team of five Low Voltage Electriciansyoulloversee the systems that help keep The Claremont Colleges connected secure and operational. Your teams work spans fire and intrusion alarms electronic access control video surveillance emergency phones telecommunications infrastructure network-connected devices and related building systems.
This is a working supervisor role.Youlllead people and projects whileremainingclose to the technical worktroubleshooting systems reviewing plans and specifications coordinating contractors and campus partners and helping your team continuously strengthen its capabilities.
How you will spend your time
- Lead assign coordinate and evaluate the day-to-day work of five Low Voltage Electricians.
- Coach and develop team members through clear expectations technical trainingtimelyfeedback and annual performance reviews.
- Oversee the operation maintenance testing and repair of campus fire alarm intrusion alarm panic alarm access control video surveillance emergency phone and telecommunications systems.
- Partner with the Building Automation Systems team to support network infrastructure field devicescommunicationspathways and BAS-related system integrations.
- Collaborate closely with IT on network connectivity cybersecurity requirements servers maintenance and integration of network-connected low-voltage systems.
- Manage preventive maintenance work orders technician billing asset information and project documentation within the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Prepare labor and material estimates and coordinatepurchasing ofmaterials and services.
- Coordinate and oversee contractors consultants vendors and other service providers performing low-voltage work.
- Review blueprints specifications schematic drawings and sketches; provide recommendations related to design construction and system changes.
- Inspect work in progress for compliance with specifications electrical and building codes and applicable standards and provideaccurateas-built information.
- Maintain shop tools and materials and ensure appropriate inventory is available to support the teams work.
- Identifyopportunities to improve work methods equipment performance efficiency and service quality.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal state and local requirements as well as fire electrical building NFPA Cal/OSHA and OSHA standards.
- Assess training needs and ensure employeesmaintainrequired licenses certifications and technical competencies.
- Support employee selection performance management development and other personnel decisions in partnership with Central Facilities Services leadership and Human Resources.
- Step into hands-on trade responsibilities as needed to support the team and campus operations.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education training and experience.
- Completion of an electrician apprenticeship or electrician vocational education program.
- Fire/Life Safety Certification from the State of California Department of Industrial Relations.
- NICET Level II Certification.
- At least five years of relevant trade experience including at least one year of supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated ability to train mentor and develop employees through technical knowledge-sharing constructive guidance and ongoing coaching.
- Working knowledge of safe electrical and low-voltage work practices and applicable Cal/OSHA OSHA and NFPA standards.
- Strong communicationskills and the ability to work effectively with employees TCCS leadership vendors contractors and other campus partners.
- Ability to read plans drawings and technical documentation and apply mathematical concepts relevant to the trade.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position including climbing ladders working from heights crawling in confined areas bending stoopingliftingand carrying equipment and working in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to wear required protective clothing and equipment and consistently promote safe work practices.
- Availability for overtime on-call assignments and occasional holiday weekend and evening work.
- Valid drivers license and a driving record acceptable to TCCSs automobile liability insurance provider.
Preferred Qualifications
- NICET Level III or IV Certification.
- C-7 or C-10 license issued by the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB).
- Manufacturer certifications such as Bosch Honeywell Schneider Potter Silent KnightFarenhyt orMicrokey.
Compensation & Benefits
The pay range for this position is$84000$92700 annually
