Long Term Substitute Special Education Teacher Avon Elementary

Avon Elementary is seeking a caring student-centered Long-Term Substitute Elementary Special Education Teacher to support students with diverse learning needs. We are looking for someone who is committed to helping students grow academically behaviorally and socially while working collaboratively with classroom teachers paraprofessionals families and other members of the educational team.

• Plan and provide specialized instruction based on students individual learning needs and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Develop and adapt lessons instructional materials and strategies to support student learning and progress.
• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction goals and interventions as needed.
• Implement academic and behavioral supports to help students access learning and be successful in the school environment.
• Collaborate with general education teachers paraprofessionals families and other professionals to support student needs.
• Participate in IEP meetings and assist with evaluations documentation and required special education paperwork.
• Maintain accurate student records and ensure required timelines and procedures are followed.
• Provide guidance and support to paraprofessionals working with students.
• Respond appropriately to student behavioral needs and follow established safety and crisis intervention procedures.
• Perform other related duties as needed.

• A bachelors degree in Special Education and a current Minnesota teaching license in Special Education or anticipated graduation with a degree in Special Education in December 2026.
• Knowledge of special education instruction IEP development and implementation and strategies for supporting students with diverse learning needs.
• Strong communication collaboration organization and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students families and colleagues.

• Anticipated Start Date: Mid-January 2027
• Anticipated End Date: Mid-May 2027
• Employment Type: Temporary long-term substitute
