Long-Term High School Math Substitute Teacher

Purpose of Position: Des Moines Christian School Substitute Teachers are student-focused professionals who fulfill the mission of DMC by stepping into the role of the classroom teacher. Position: Part-time Reports To: Qualifications: Division Head Iowa Teaching License or Bachelors Degree in Education preferred Candidates who have a sub authorization in the state of Iowa will also be considered. Professing believer in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and committed to growing in relationship with agreement with the Des Moines Christian School Statement of agreement with the Des Moines Christian School Biblical Convictions for Christian Education. Regularly attends and is actively involved in a church that affirms historic Christian orthodoxy (doctrine faith teaching practice) consistent with the DMC Statement of Faith through that churchs public creed confession core beliefs or statement of faith. Responsibilities: Ensures the DMC mission drives all curricular and extracurricular activities. Exhibits a love of teaching and a passion to see each student succeed. Develops trusting productive relationships with students to create a safe positive and productive learning environment. Follows lesson plans left by the classroom teacher and develops and adapts lesson plans as needed. Grades work and updates gradebook accordingly. Follows classroom procedures. Uses a variety of instructional strategies and assessment practices to deepen the learning for each student. Partners with parents through effective consistent communication. All other duties as assigned.
