Locum Optometry Physician

**Position Title:** Optometrist

**Coverage Justification:** Addressing a staffing shortage during recruitment.

**Coverage Duration:** Immediate start for a period of 3 months with potential for extension.

**Work Environment:** Clinic setting.

**Schedule:** Tuesday to Saturday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM inclusive of a 1-hour lunch break; total of 40 hours per week.

**Key Responsibilities:**- Conduct routine eye examinations and contact lens fittings.

- Manage eye urgent care and emergencies encompassing medical optometry and treatment of red eye cases.

- Provide services for patients aged 4 years and above with a high frequency of pupil dilation.

- Experience with glaucoma management is preferred; however surgical procedures are not part of this role.

- Familiarity with specialty contacts is advantageous but not mandatory.

**On-Call Duties:** No on-call responsibilities.

**Patient Care Metrics:** Estimated patient load of 18 scheduled patients per day.

**Team Composition:** The optometrist will have full support from a dedicated administrative and clinical team.

**Electronic Medical Records System:** EPIC.

**Credentialing Timeline:** Anticipated to take approximately 60 days from application submission.

**Certification Requirements:**- Must possess board certification.

- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.

**State Licensure:** An active California optometry license is mandatory.
