As a school SOIS maintains a smoke-free environment to ensure the health and safety of our students employees and community. We are a residential school located on a scenic 127-acre campus which includes multiple buildings and a working farm for student programming. The work environment will include both indoor and outdoor spaces.

Who You Are:
- You have a passion for working with the autism population and believe meaningful change occurs through strong therapeutic relationships individualized care and ensuring the safety and well-being of students and staff.
- You are a thoughtful relationship-centered licensed mental health clinician with experience supporting autistic children adolescents and young adults with complex behavioral psychiatric developmental and social-emotional needs.
- You utilize evidence-informed counseling approaches to help students build emotional regulation coping skills social-emotional development and overall well-being.
- You collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams including educators clinicians residential staff behavioral specialists medical providers and families to support individualized student goals across school residential and community environments.
- You are comfortable integrating therapeutic interventions across academic residential and campus life environments.
- You utilize student-centered strength-based approaches to counseling and treatment planning while embracing reflective practice evidence-informed care and continuous professional growth.
- You remain calm analytical and solutions-focused when responding to challenging behaviors or crisis situations.

- You have strong written communication skills specifically involving documentation progress notes incident reports and other related administrative tasks.
- Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial behavioral and social-emotional assessments.
- Develop implement and monitor individualized treatment goals including ITEPs FBAs and BIPs as appropriate.
- Provide individual group and family therapy using evidence-informed trauma-informed interventions.
- Collect and analyze clinical and behavioral data to guide treatment decisions and measure progress.
- Provide clinical consultation across classroom residential and community settings.
- Respond to behavioral and psychiatric crises and participate in TCIS interventions.
- Maintain timely accurate clinical documentation in accordance with organizational regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Serve as an active member of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
- Collaborate with education residential psychiatry nursing mental health behavior analysis occupational therapy physical therapy speech-language pathology and families to coordinate care.
- Participate in admissions treatment planning quarterly reviews transition planning and discharge planning.
- Promote consistency of therapeutic and behavioral support across settings.
- Provide family therapy caregiver support and parent coaching.
- Maintain regular communication with families to support collaboration progress updates visitation planning and continuity of care.
- Provide coaching consultation and modeling to education and residential staff.
- Support implementation of behavior plans through staff training observation and ongoing consultation.
- Recommend environmental and programmatic modifications to support student success.
- Develop proactive crisis prevention strategies and contribute to Individual Crisis Management Plans (ICMPs) and Recovery Zone planning.
- Provide clinical consultation during behavioral crises and participate in post-crisis reviews.
- Support safe least restrictive interventions consistent with organizational policies and best practices.
- Participate in reflective supervision quality improvement initiatives chart audits and departmental meetings.
- Provide supervision to interns or trainees as appropriate.
- Maintain licensure certifications professional competencies and required training.
- Uphold ethical relationship-centered practice confidentiality mandated reporting requirements and organizational policies.
- Promote a culture of collaboration accountability innovation and continuous learning.

- Masters degree in counseling Social Work Creative Arts Therapy Psychology or other closely related behavioral health fields required.
- Current New York State licensure in good standing as an LMHC LCSW LMSW LCAT or another approved clinical license required.
- Minimum of three years of clinical experience providing assessment and psychotherapy services required.
- Experience working with autistic individuals or individuals with developmental disabilities is strongly preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills including clinical documentation and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviors and respond effectively during crisis situations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Ability to get TCIS trained and complete/maintain all required training.
- Due to the nature of work in supporting our students all job description lists the physical requirements for that position
- Our campus consists of some paved areas but primarily consists of grass gravel paths and parking lots. Additionally many areas of our building are fully accessible however as a historic building some areas are only accessible by stairs.
- You must be able to ambulate around the campus including hills stairs grass and gravel.
- Student Facing Positions:
- Must be able to react and move quickly during student crisis both for the safety of the student and for the staff.
- Must be able to run across the campus and throughout the school to catch/monitor an eloping student and/or to remove yourself from an unsafe situation.
- You must be able to pass TCIS (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Training for Schools).
- You must be able to bend stretch sit stand crouch or kneel for sustained periods of time if implementing a hold.
