Line Maintenance Technician

Fort Lauderdale FL (Fully onsite)

Position Summary

Thales is looking for a Line Maintenance Technician whose role involves performing line maintenance installation repair station and ground equipment maintenance activities on Thales In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) systems and other systems for which the technician is authorized and trained.

In this position you will support the maintenance troubleshooting repair and installation of IFE equipment and systems while helping ensure work is completed safely efficiently and in accordance with applicable technical and quality requirements.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Perform scheduled maintenance activities on all authorized Thales systems in accordance with established procedures.
  • Perform unscheduled maintenance and system modifications on all authorized Thales systems.
  • Ensure airline logbook discrepancies pertaining to Thales systems are addressed and cleared in a timely manner.
  • Document all maintenance activities performed on a daily basis utilizing established procedures.
  • Prepare and submit required daily maintenance reports to the Supervisor of Maintenance.
  • Provide customers with ongoing support while carrying out and upholding Company policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma required; valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant Certificate required with recent experience requirements met in accordance with 14 CFR 65.83.
  • Strong knowledge of avionics/electronics with the ability to read and interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams follow written procedures and instructions and terminate electrical connectors using proper crimping and soldering methods acceptable within the aviation industry.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced team environment while maintaining accuracy and efficiency analyze problems and situations of moderate scope and effectively summarize and present information to Supervisors and Customers.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a local airport Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge and Customs Clearance as required and successfully complete a seven-year background check including fingerprinting pre-employment drug testing and Criminal History Records Check (CHRC).
  • Must speak read and write English fluently; be legally authorized to work in the country where the position is located; maintain regular attendance and punctuality; demonstrate a positive attitude; and exhibit Thales values of Compliance Respect Innovation Responsibility and Teamwork.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver License and driving record that meets Company insurance standards with the ability to operate tugs trucks lift trucks snorkel lifts boom lifts and tractors upon completion of required training.

Special Position Requirements

  • Two (2) years of aircraft maintenance technician school and two (2) years of line maintenance experience preferred; Federal Communications Commission (FCC) license preferred.
  • Ability to adapt to changing conditions and directions remain alert to moving vehicles and aircraft and frequently crawl bend kneel climb and stoop while working in confined spaces.
  • Ability to occasionally handle objects weighing 5080 pounds frequently handle objects weighing up to 20 pounds and frequently use a variety of hand tools to test equipment.
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules based on seniority and operational requirements including day swing or midnight shifts weekends and holidays and ability to work outside on the aircraft ramp and/or in hangar environments where loud noise may be experienced.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and/or internationally up to 10% of the time including supporting customer locations or site visits as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required airport and customer security credentials including successfully completing the applicable 10-year background check and other security requirements.

The reference Total Target Compensation (TTC) market range for this position inclusive of annual base salary and the variable compensation target is between


Total Target Cash (TTC) 31.91 - 51.00 USD Annual

This reflects how companies in a similar industry and geographic region generally pay for similar jobs. This range helps the Company make pay decisions as one data point among many. Where a position falls within this range is also dependent on other factors including but not limited to the employees career path history competencies skills and performance as well as the companys annual salary budget the customers program requirements and the companys internal equity. Thales may offer additional benefits and other compensation depending on circumstances not related to an applicants status protected by local state or federal law.
