Yellowstone Clubs Mountain Operations Department is currently seeking candidates as Lift Operators for the upcoming Winter season! Our Winter employment dates areNovember 30th- April 12th.

Lift Operators start at $22/hour DOE

Purpose: The purpose of the Lift Operator is to provide safe and efficient loading transporting and unloading of Members guests and employees in accordance with the specific operating instructions of the assigned lift.


Major Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that each Member and guest receives outstanding guest service in a guest friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every Member and guest maintaining outstanding service standards solid product knowledge and all other components of guest service.
  • Empowered to guarantee total guest satisfaction display hospitality and professionalism to our guests at all times take pride in representing Yellowstone Club professionally with our Members and guests and assure that all transactions with guests are handled in a legal and ethical manner.
  • Understand and apply all property safety and security procedures to maintain a secure and safe environment for employees Members and guests at all the event of an accident or emergency seek medical attention if necessary and contact the General Manager or Human Resources immediately.
  • Maintain a favorable working relationship with all company employees to foster and promote a positive working environment.

Essential Job Functions:

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Operate assigned equipment in a safe competent and knowledgeable manner. Be able to respond quickly to emergencies.
  • Inspect record and report the condition of all lift machinery.
  • Maintain loading areas unloading areas and ramps to prescribed standards.
  • Execute the safe efficient and courteous loading and unloading of passengers.
  • Demonstrate good Member guest and employee relation skills: Courteous and actively friendly with all interactions.
  • Ski between lifts and assignments and at the end of their shift down the mountain; intermediate level of skiing required.


Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Diplomatically handle awkward or negative situations.
  • Provide general knowledge about Yellowstone Club to inquirers.
  • Maintain an informed status about lift openings enclosures and general operation conditions.
  • Command an alert conscientious and reactive ability while operation the chair lift.
  • Create an open communication with Members guests and employees.
  • Responsible for the safe start-up running and shut-down of electric or auxiliary operation.
  • Conduct pre-operation safety checks.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established Club policies procedures and standards of service to achieve the overall objectives of this position.
  • Meet departmental productivity organization punctuality/attendance and consistency standards.
  • Maintain a positive and respectful attitude.
  • Treat Members guests vendors customers and co-workers with professionalism and respect at all times.
  • Maintain privacy of our Members at all time.
  • Maintain a clean and neat appearance at all times.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with all employees supervisors managers and directors.
  • Perform work in a safe and high quality manner.
  • Project a favorable image of Yellowstone Club to Members and guests at all times.
  • Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings weekends and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
  • Assist with lift evacuations.
  • All work is conducted outside and can be in extreme cold heavy snow wind or other weather conditions.
  • Applicant must have the willingness and ability to be trained to operate a snowmobile. All Lift Operators will be trained in proper and safe snowmobile operation. Lift Operators may be assigned to a lift where a snowmobile is needed to access the top and bottom of lift stations.

Position Requirements:

  • High School diploma GED or vocational training of job-related course work
  • Previous lift operations experience is preferred it is not required we will conduct preseason training
  • Ability to ski terrain at an intermediate level in a strong stable manner
  • Ability to work outside in inclement weather and adverse conditions.
  • Experience working in a private club setting.
  • Valid State Drivers License.
  • Lift Operators may need to lift up to thirty (30) pounds.
  • Applicant must complete a pre-employment background check.


The position offered is a seasonal position located in Big Sky Montana. All worksites are located in Gallatin County or Madison County in Montana as Yellowstone Club crosses both county lines.
