With a staff of 950 and an annual budget of $140 million Project Renewal is one of the larger social service nonprofits in New York : Licensed Practical Nurse Location: 59th Street Womens ShelterStatus: Part time/25 hours per weekHourly Rate: $33 - $34Overall Responsibilities:LPNs provide on-site nursing services under the direction of the Nurse Duties and Responsibilities: Participate in weekly clinical meetings with medical staff shelter case management & administrative staffManagement of medication systems medication self- administration records (MSAR) for clients who self-administer their medications in shelter including:Ensuring safe storage of medicationsAssisting clients with pill-packing of their medicationsEnsuring clients have appropriate supplies and access to medicationsAssisting with medication refills and attaining new prescriptionsMonitoring client reactions for side effects and reporting to prescribing providerMaintain records of controlled substances using controlled substance logsEducation on medication adherenceFulfill patient specific orders designated by the medical provider Obtain vital signs per protocolAdminister medications injections and treatments as ordered by medical providersProvide nursing screenings and documentation in nursing templatesPerform ordered procedures including but not limited to EKGs Hearing and Vision tests Blood Glucose Blood and urine specimen collection and processing stock medications immunizations and other medical suppliesas neededMaintain emergency equipment AED oxygen tanks and other clinical equipment Monitor medication expiration datesDiscard expired medicationRecord refrigerator and freezer temperatures using designated datalogger Report on excursions or warning alertsTravel to cover locations as necessary for coverage Other duties as assignedQualifications:New York State licensed LPN Working with homeless individuals preferredMust have excellent oral and listening skillsMust have the ability to interface with clients as well as all levels of staffMust have knowledge of Microsoft Office especially Word and Excel Familiarity with electronic medical records documentation; eCW knowledge a plusProject Renewal is an equal opportunity employer.
