Overview:
Aspen Hope Center mobile crisis clinicians respond from Aspen to Parachute CO and interact with individuals served in a variety of settings including but not limited to in their home in the community and in hospital settings. It is essential that all interactions are conducted in a professional courteous and ethical manner. Mobile crisis clinicians are responsible for making sure that each individual served is treated with compassion and that time is taken to determine the appropriate course of treatment.
Job Summary:
The Licensed Clinician On-Call (LCOC) provides real-time support and guidance to Aspen Hope Center clinicians during crisis shifts. This role acts as the first point of escalation for staff needing clinical consultation complex case support or assistance navigating high-risk situations. The LCOC also serves as a liaison to community partners when a supervisor-level representative is requested ensuring a professional collaborative response to community needs.
The LCOC helps maintain program quality and client safety by offering clinical expertise documenting key decisions and supporting effective communication between Aspen Hope Center staff leadership and external stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Initiates daily slack at the start of shift to include all clinicians scheduled for the day.
- Provide real-time staffing support (either in person telehealth or audio only) to both licensed and unlicensed clinicians during on-call shifts offering guidance for assessment intervention safety planning and next steps.
- Act as a sounding board for clinicians working with complex cases helping them evaluate risk and make informed decisions.
- Maintain a calm supportive presence during high-stress situations modeling trauma-informed care and professionalism.
- Serve as the first escalation point for clinicians requiring immediate clinical supervision during a crisis call or consultation.
- Speaks directly to community partners (e.g. hospitals law enforcement schools other agencies) when a supervisor-level representative is requested ensuring a professional collaborative response to community needs
- Manages and enforces mandatory callback list as needed on scheduled shifts
- Completes a brief staffing note in Aspen Hope Centers EHR for each interaction clearly documenting:
- You reviewed the documentation of the interaction you were consulted about
- Guidance provided
- Outcomes or decisions made
- Whether the LCOC agreed or disagreed with the clinicians plan
- Whether what is written in the clinicians documentation accurately reflects the information provided too you
- Ensures documentation is timely accurate and concise to maintain continuity of care and accountability.
- Represents Aspen Hope Center with professionalism and collaboration working to resolve conflicts answer questions and strengthen community relationships.
- Elevates concerns to the Crisis Supervisor and/or Crisis Program Director or other leadership team members when appropriate.
- Assists clinicians with risk assessment and decision-making for clients presenting with suicidal ideation homicidal ideation psychosis or other high-risk factors.
- Supports staff in navigating mandated reporting requirements including child abuse elder abuse or duty-to-warn situations.
- Identifies and escalates any immediate safety concerns for clients clinicians or the community.
- Provides updates to leadership on significant calls incidents or trends during the on-call shift.
- Offers feedback to the Crisis Supervisor and/or Crisis Pr ogram Director regarding recurring challenges staff training needs or systemic barriers observed while on call.
- Serves as a mentor and role model reinforcing best practices and promoting a culture of professionalism
- May be requested to provide individual and/ or group supervision as requested by the Crisis Services Director.
- During staffing reviews the clients chart and crisis documentation for completeness and quality.

Work Environment:
Work may involve exposure to high-stress and emotionally charged situations to include interactions with high acuity individuals who may present as agitated unpredictable or combative. The clinician must demonstrate the ability to maintain therapeutic composure exercise professional discretion apply de-escalation techniques and uphold safety for self and others in all environments. Capacity to maintain professional composure make decisions in fast-paced or challenging environments and adhere to process protocols is necessary in this role.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge education training skills and experience in a multi-disciplinary approach to physical and mental health
- Excellent communication skills including diplomacy tact and effective bedside manner
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to display non-judgmental attitude
- Ability to maintain composure remain solution-focused and respectful in all interactions with staff coworkers vendors and clients
- Knowledge of DSM 5 diagnoses and symptoms
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
- Knowledge of local and agency resources for referrals
- Skilled at assessing level of suicidality in individuals who present for help
- Ability to engage effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds adapting communication and service delivery as needed.
- Skilled in basic computer operations
- Ability to establish priorities work independently and proceed with objectives without supervision
- Ability to maintain boundaries with clients practitioners agencies community members
- Ability to uphold confidentiality and discretion at all times adhering to the US Dept of Health and Human Services minimum necessary standard when disclosing
and requesting public health information
Requirements & Credentials:
- Masters degree in Social Work Counseling Psychology or related field.
- Active clinical license in the state of Colorado (LCSW LPC LMFT or equivalent).
- Colorados Behavioral Health Administration Crisis Professional Curriculum completed
- Minimum of 2 years of crisis intervention or mental health experience.
- Strong knowledge of suicide assessment safety planning and trauma-informed care.
- Strong knowledge of agency protocols
- Previous supervisory or on-call experience
Preferred:
- Familiarity with Salesforce or other electronic health record systems.
- Experience working with community partners such as law enforcement hospitals and schools.
