About the Opportunity:

The Washington County Law Library is currently hiring for a Librarian I to join the team!

The Washington County Law Library is evolving to meet the dynamic needs of todays library users. We are looking for an adaptive creative professional to help shape our next chapter of service delivery. From modernizing legal information access to partnering with the Law Librarian to build creative responsive services for both legal professionals and the public this is an exciting time to join us.

Ideal Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

The Librarian I will assist the Law Librarian with administrative tasks collection development technical services and providing reference for both lawyers and non-lawyers. The incumbent will assist in program creation; assist patrons with legal research and provide effective use of resources; update and create legal research guides and content for the Law Librarys web presence; and provide referrals to appropriate agencies or organizations.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • A Masters Degree in Library Science from an accredited American Library Association program or related field with coursework in legal bibliography and research or related field. OR
  • Six (6) years experience in a para-professional law librarian position or related field may substitute for the degree requirement.

About the Department/Division:

The Washington County Law Library provides research training and legal reference assistance and access to a variety of general and specialized legal information resources and tools. The Law Library offers service for everyone engaged with the justice system including self-represented litigants and those facing legal issues attorneys court staff the judiciary and other governmental organizations.

The purpose of this project is to create new job descriptions and create new classification and compensation systems.
