Job Summary

The SLCLearning Specialistis responsible fordevelopingimplementingandmonitoring interventionsindicatedby testing direct observations and self-reports required by students to be successful at their respective highschoolandmiddle school.The specialist is knowledgeable and insightful into the academic and social-emotionalchallengesoften confronting students with learner variability including learning disabilitiesand ADHD. This position reports to theSchwab Learning CenterSenior Learning Specialist.

This position is a Fee for Service position - $70.00/hour for direct time and $50.00/hour for admin time.

Ability to work evening hours to accommodate student schedules and ideally in person in Palo Alto.

Role Functions:

  • Analyze individual studentstrengths and challenges and develop interventionstoresolveacademic impairmentissues whichmayspanmultipleareasusingadvancedtechnicalandprofessionalexpertise

  • Ensure student confidentiality and HIPAA by adhering to thepoliciesand practices on the students contracts andwith the students college.

  • Fulfill reportingrequirements that address the Centers metrics.

  • Conduct student-facingand parent-facingcommunications ina timelyand professional manner.

  • For eachstudent evaluateandmake customizedrecommendationsontechnologyresourcesexecutive functionneedsand learning strategiesthat will enhance the students opportunity for success.

  • Providedirectadviceto studentsand parentson a range ofissues includingbutnotlimitedto academicsupportaccessibilityworkplacedemandsexecutivefunctioningandcommunity standardstoassisttheminmakingappropriatechoicesanddecisions.

  • Provideconsultingadviceto key personnel involved with the student most commonly the parent/guardianthat elevates their understanding of the students challenges and accommodations to enhance the students opportunity for success with thatparent/guardianteacher professorsupervisorand/or related support personnel.

  • Abide byestablishedprocessesandpoliciesdesigned to safeguard students confidentiality.

  • Possess the ability to administeravarietyofstandardizedacademic assessments ratingscalesand conduct interviews aspartofdeveloping astudentsComprehensiveLearningToolkit; summarize key indicatorsobservationsand direct statements by the student inclient summary form and intake notes.

  • Collaborate with relevant professionals across the CHCagencyespecially those in the Clinical Services Division and Administrative support areas.

  • Perform other related duties asand assigned.

  • Design and conduct relevant workshops for students and parents as needed.

  • Maintain commitment to child safety mandated reporting duty andprofessional boundaries.

Accountability

  • Delivery of required reporting to betimelyandaccurate

  • Manage expected caseload of students as assigned by theDirector and/or Care Team.

  • Active participation in program development staff and planning meetings

  • High marks on student surveys relating to service delivery and meaningful relationship

Educationand Qualifications:

  • Amasters degree in Special Education Learning Sciences Psychology or otherprogramrelated to learning disabilities neurodiversity learner variability cognitive neuroscience.

  • Experience working with middle school teen and/or young adult students with learning differences and attention challenges.

  • Demonstrated interest and experience in applying research-based strategies and techniques.

  • Experience and interest in assessment of student and program outcomes.

  • Experience administering and/or interpreting educational measures and cognitive testing typically associated with learning disabilities ADHD and other types of learning differences.

  • Experience collecting and analyzing data to use in the development of learning strategies/executive function skill building.

  • Familiarity with Universal Design for Learning.

  • Experience with developing e-portfolios preferred.

  • Conference presentation experience is a plus

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced communication skills tocommunicate information clearly and effectivelyto internal and external audiences client groups and all levels of management.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to review and analyze complex information.

  • Advanced computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office Suite and a variety of assistive and presentation software.

  • Advanced client service skills.

  • Competency in managing service time and developing invoices toassuretimelyandaccuratefinancial transactions.

  • Ability to take initiative and ownership of projects and proven success in following through and completing projects

  • Ability to ensure and apply compliance with legal financial and CHC policies procedures & regulations.

Physicaland Special JobRequirements:

  • An employee in this position maybe requiredto occasionally lift move and/or set-up stacks of documents such as training binders or other training materials lap-top computers in-focus projectors flipchartsand other materialsfor meetings and presentations. The employee will alsobe requiredto work for extended periods of time at a computer.

  • Flexibilitywillberequiredfor the work schedule; evening and weekend hours willberequired. Some work may be done remotely as approved by theDirector but most client meetings will be in person and onsite.
