The Role

The Learning Facilitator is responsible for enabling and supporting the learning process utilizing best practices in online education. This position will prepare guide and support a wide range of learnersalong a predominately asynchronous learning path. The Learning Facilitator will create a positive learning environment help learners make meaning and supplement learning with resources to achieve learning objectives while constantly applying a DEI lens to their role/tasks. The Learning Facilitator will also coordinate relevant logistics and manage necessary technology tools to ensure a smooth learning process.

Scope
Manage Learners and Ensure Progress

  • Facilitate multiple cohorts concurrently with different start and end dates on various foundational workforce topics and job readiness skills.
  • Support learners with various barriers and learning levels while constantly applying a DEI lens to ensure progress is made for each learner.
  • Coordinate with Participant Success Coaches to ensure learner experience is positive.
  • Track and respond to each cohorts timeline progress and needs.
  • Provide formative and summative feedback on classroom assignments and activities.
  • Integrate real-world career examples and professional expertise into course discussions and assignments to aide in the practical application of course principles.
  • Partner with Subject Matter Experts to offer meaningful feedback and input to participants.
  • Resolve learner issues as they arise on time.
  • Monitor participant progress and success; engage participants who are not meeting expectations and understand learner needs; inform appropriate staff members in a timely manner.
  • Work 1:1 with participants who may need additional support; provide coaching as appropriate and inform appropriate staff members to support learner.
  • Ensure all participants in the Job Search Readiness curriculum develop a professional resume.
  • Facilitate resume preparation to enhance participants chances of successful placement and work-based learning opportunities.
  • Contribute to the creation and enhancement of current and relevant curriculum content.
  • Provide ongoing input and support to ensure the curriculum remains up-to-date and effective.
Asynchronous Engagement
  • Provide regular and substantive interaction between participants and learning facilitator via learning management system (LMS). Respond to learners within 24 hours.
  • Encourage active learning and engage learners through LMS via discussion forums chats feedback areas; actively participate in discussion boards or equivalent activities to foster community and interaction.
  • Analyze LMS data to determine if participants are meeting goals engaging in content and/or need additional support.
  • Manage participant learning and progress; communicate with learners who are not meeting expectations to motivate them and help them successfully complete courses.
  • Utilize technology to support participant interaction with the content facilitator and other participants.
Synchronous Facilitation:
  • Facilitate live sessions using video conferencing tools.
  • Facilitate and schedule learning events through LMS to promote connection between content and real-life application such as coordinating guest speakers practice labs critical thinking activities etc.
  • Contextualize learning create community and address importance between content learned and identified goals.

Qualifications

  • Experience teaching online; strong working knowledge of virtual facilitation principle and techniques.
  • Experience in the use of Learning Management System to facilitate learning.
  • Deep knowledge of participant learning behaviors and how to engage and support a wide range of learners both synchronously and asynchronously holding a strong lens of Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI).
  • Strong strategies to promote learning and motivate participants with varying backgrounds and barriers in an online learning environment.
  • Track record of delivering unique and creative learning experiences to support a wide range of learners.
  • Data-drive approach to evaluating and measuring learning experiences
  • The ability to work successfully and remain curious during times of ambiguitya willingness to iterate.
  • A willingness to be flexible while seamlessly toggling between big picture and small details.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey meaning concisely.
  • Proven time-management skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple priorities with competing deadlines and varying timelines.
  • A strong work ethic coupled with self-motivation and personal responsibility.
  • The ability to be highly communicative timely and reflective.
  • Highly proficient skills in using the Internet e-mail and a variety of computer applications.
  • Strong understanding of how to operate and troubleshoot standard office equipment that may include computers and associated peripherals.
