POSITION SUMMARY
The Lead Mammography Technologist serves as the clinical and operational lead for mammography services providing oversight of daily workflow quality assurance activities regulatory compliance and staff development. The Lead Mammography Technologist acts as a subject matter expert and resource for mammography staff radiologists physicists and leadership promoting high standards of care image quality safety and operational efficiency.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Independently operates all mammography equipment and adheres to proper imaging techniques.
- Schedules begins completes and cancels exams in the Radiology Information System (RIS).
- Reviews imaging orders for accuracy and ensures appropriate exam selection based on patient signs and symptoms; seeks clarification when needed.
- Regularly assigns instructs and monitors the work of mammography staff.
- Serves as the primary clinical resource for mammography workflow patient care image quality and equipment questions.
- Coordinates daily patient scheduling and workflow to ensure efficient operations.
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training program in an AMA approved school; registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) And one year of experience in applicable modality OR A minimum of 6 months of technical experience in the applicable modality AND previous leadership experience.
- Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements such as a license certification and/or registration.
Legal Requirement
- Certified by the State of Washington as a Radiologic Technologist. For leads in mammography certified by ARRT as a Mammography Technologist.
